I also have to say how exciting it was to hear the crowd audibly pop for the finish of the Twin Gate match. Wasn't even the biggest but they were so into the finish they made noise that wasn't clapping and that rules. And while I'm talking DG, the fact they have gotten over that "basic" rollups and backslides etc. can win even the biggest singles matches is so beneficial at making every nearfall incredibly easy to bite on. HM 6th March New Japan NJ Cup Night 2 Minoru Suzuki vs Tomoaki Honma It loving rules getting to see plucky underdog Honma back, because he probably only has 3 or 4 of these left in him but it rules. HM 6th March New Japan NJ Cup Night 2 Juice Robinson vs KENTA Juice's dedication to reinventing his look every few months but it gets even dumber each time is fascinating. Do like his hair though. At this point KENTA is possibly the most interesting BC member to me purely based on the lack of a manager so bullshit is kept to fine levels. Obviously Jay has a higher ceiling, this KENTA isn't racking up many MOTYC nominations but he's consistent. MOTYC 6th March New Japan NJ Cup Night 2 Kazuchika Okada vs Shingo Takagi Going in you know that this is on their day 2 of the very best wrestlers in the world, they had one of the standout matches of 2020 in the G1 so can mesh well, Shingo is probably wrestler of the year front runner, but Okada is not himself, because of injury, because of booking, because the Money Clip is Skull End levels garbage, whatever. But of course it is foolish to doubt Shingo Takagi, a man so good he can make the Money Clip almost look good. gently caress yeah that finish. mildly worried that Okada lost after going for the Rainmaker, that better not put him off it for good

DMOTY shouldn't be a thing, but at the same time it's what I will always internally designate Okada v Ishimori because it feels wrong to call that match WMOTY but like whenever I remember it its probably the best wrestled match i've ever seen that sucked in every possible loving way. It wasn't boring like a good worked WWE match just being "there". It was just all wrong.

Dragon Gate Championship Gate Night 1, 3/6 HM: Masaaki Mochizuki & Takashi Yoshida vs. Bokutimo Dragon & Kota Minoura vs. Don Fujii & U-T 2nd this. Mostly because Don Fujii is god drat national treasure. HM 7th March Dragon Gate Champion Gate Night 2 Don Fujii, Kzy & U-T vs MASQUERADE (Jason Lee, Kota Minoura & La Estrella) 2nd this, #Fujii2Vibes NOAH Great Voyage in Yokohama March 7th HM Sugiura-gun (Takashi Sugiura and Kazushi Sakuraba) (c) vs Agression (Masa Kitamiya and Katsuhiko Nakajima) - GHC Tag Team Championship Only HM for this. It was good but I was knackered after a day of wrestling (Revolution + Champion Gate is a hell of a combo) but is elevated by an all-timer of a finish. Dragon Gate Championship Gate Night 2, 3/7 MOTYC: Open the Dream Gate Championship - Shun Skywalker vs. Kaito Ishida Match of the loving year thus far and it's not even particularly close. I'm a huge Kick Boi mark so this hit on all the right levels. Bring back the old theme though.
