Yeah, I live in the Twin Cities and had a pair of jays in my yard this morning. They are lovely. Also, I drew my sister's family as Blue Jays.

I stand corrected! We get an influx of blue jays down here every winter so I assumed they were migratory up north. Actually checking bird guides suggest that *some* blue jays migrate, but scientists aren't sure what causes some to migrate and others to not.

It's like the soundtrack to an old Sartana film.

I'm used to seeing a cockatoo in a car, but usually they're in the front seats of an Audi

Want to see the most anticlimactic birth of a bird, ever? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RocNefMhFn8 Yes, a newborn bird just shot out the ground like a cork, was ignored by its parents, and ran off into the bushes. The megapodes are weird. They build elaborate incubators of rotting vegetable matter and sand, and the chicks are born "superprecocial" and dig up through the mound. Once they're free, they begin fending for themselves: no parental involvement.

I MUST learn how to do this Deteriorata posted:You're gonna need a lot more than a bb gun, son. batrachotoxin solves a lot of problems. if it’s not solving your problems, you’re probably not using enough or making enough what I’m saying is we should mass-produce synthetic batrachotoxin and put it in stuff. like bullets I.
