It was a real thrill to be outside on the one day a year where amazing conditions hit northern Illinois and I'm actually outside.

Well, when I say day, I mean "30 minutes" because the fog burned off real fast.

This is cool. What kind of place is it? Is it going to be an orchard or something?

I went on a new hike today. I took my birding lens because I was looking for birds in the snow, but I didn't see many. Instead, I took some zoomed landscape shots.

Anyone not lugging a super tele on nature walks is doing themselves a huge disservice. So many details jump out at you.

The past six months I've only carried two lenses.. 24-105 and 150-600. It's fun.

The Fuji 100-400 is my daily walkaround lens here in my neighborhood. Owns. The one time I brought the 18-55 out recently I forgot to bring a battery in the camera so clearly that's not what God intended. :colbert:

Yeah, only having my 200-500mm lens forced me to take pictures I probably wouldn't have taken otherwise, and I'm really pleased with how they turned out. Details and textures are easy to overlook when taking wider photos. The only problem is that the lens is unwieldy enough that I don' t bother to bring another lens, so I have to resort to my phone if I want wider pictures.
