My least favourite wrestling take is the "xxx promotion won't get new fans if they keep doing a thing I don't like" analysis: because its never interesting and it just assumes that everything a promotion does must be about getting the LAPSED FAN BACK or MAKING NEW CASUAL FANS. Saw someone complain about AEW signing tweets because "how is this supposed to bring back lapsed fans????" as if the Lapsed Fan is checking twitter weekly and that is what prevents them from watching AEW Dynamite. You've also seen it with Mutoh's NOAH Championship reign: people on twitter speaking about it like its some disastrous decision that's killing the company when, from all the evidence we have, its actually been successful with drawing fans and the domestic audience seem into it. For some people you can't just dislike something a promotion does; it has to be some big story about how that thing you don't like is killing the business or whatever.

Ergo everyone WWE pushes and doesn't push is exactly where they should be at all times. God would not let you be rich and successful if you were not good, ergo being rich and successful proves you're good.
