Is it just me, or is it weird that the accusers are being widely referred to as masseuses? I had the impression that word has taken on some questionable connotations compared with like, massage therapist or similar. At least so I was told by a friend who gave massages at an Aveda salon a long time ago. It seems especially demeaning to the women in this case, which concerns allegations of sexual violence.

If the accusations were reserved for being a creep and trying to pressure these women into touching his dick that would be unacceptable in a moral sense but let’s face it his career in the NFL would ultimately survive. But there’s at least one accusation of forcibly making a woman perform oral sex on him and if there are more accusations like that then this is the most toxic situation the league has seen since Hernandez and yes I remember Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson.

When all we had to go on were the hilarious ramblings of a lawyer who made sure to claim that he would not be intimidated because he was a badass marine all typed up on the Notes app and posted as a screenshot to Instagram it was pretty easy to laugh off. That becomes harder as official professionally composed court filings detailing the accusations come out one after the other. And I’m already seeing the standard “oh he’s a rich famous athlete why would he even need to do this oh and btw we need to get a photo of these women because obviously he wouldn’t do it to any uggos” around the internet. I mean I really hope that Watson is innocent. But it’s scary because if this is actually some crazy conspiracy concocted by a rich white owner, a crooked lawyer, and over a dozen different women, all to smear and destroy the life of a prominent black athlete all because he didn’t want to play ball contractually, the long term implications for victim advocacy going forward will be cataclysmic.

All the filings are under various Jane Doe's so did anyone actually open themselves up other than this weird guy? Here's me not knowing legal procedure but at what point does he have to prove to the court (yes anonymity is important in sexual assault and harassment cases especially high profile ones) that there are women behind these complaints? Did he have to provide that to the court in a hidden part of the filings? Somethings extremely fucky and I don't know how this ends up. After the poo poo show that got 50 something days in court because of a failed steak salesmans tantrum the most bizarre things still seem possible as all hell.

I had no idea Instagram was the go-to place to book your totally professional unlicensed massage therapist business. I’m an old though.
