Yeah, like the Crabs are the best defensive team in the league and the purchase was to make home runs easier and more valuable. It seems like it was undone not because it was sabotage, but because the coins were duped. Mills didn't deal with sabotage, but we lost our 3rd upgrade and about 8 million legit coins went poof that could've been votes.

Steaks had 5 million coin dumped into increasing Peanuts weather. Without a Peanut Mister.

Nobody wanted that or could conceivably have wanted that, and it would have taken at minimum an additional 15 million to have overridden it.

Not gonna vote for decrees. Don't care too much about these although I don't like the one where snacks can be spoiled.

Probably gonna do the safe boring thing and vote for the wills/blessings that boost our players... but I am tempted to say gently caress it and drop 3k votes into stealing Nagomi back

Put 4000 votes into non-dominant arms for the worms because I've been keeping an eye on SIBR. They're licking their lips at the pitching potential of our rotation and I'm predicting some steals. If RNG is going to insist on making the worms not terrible straight away, then they need to be better than "barely missing last place on a tiebreaker"

Also 200 into Pot Luck because I've really enjoyed how the snack pack has made concessions builds unpredictable and would like to see more of it

I'm getting the same thing in the Breath Mints space too. Being told that sabotage is explicitly allowed. Which, like, fine I guess. But loving with wills specifically seems really mean when wills are theoretically where small teams are on even footing. For a big team to sabotage other teams' wills would be really hosed.

We’re not being told that sabotage is fine by the rules. We’re not being allowed to discuss it at all! People are eating mutes because they think that it’s bullshit that other teams can roll through and make lovely Wills decisions. Mods have been spamming a “hey it’s time for some self care! 😊 have you eaten anything lately? 😌 go for a walk 😃 and take a shower!” macro. It's more that there's nothing stopping that fanbase from switching in sufficient numbers to influence votes like the fridays exchange. They might as well contract the league because this is going to keep happening to smaller fanbase. They can reload immediately doing that. It's bad design.

They need to just get rid of exchange and put in a proper trade mechanic

Nick Buntline
Dec 20, 2007
Doesn't know the impossible.

I'll say specifically for that trade that it is extremely not clear what happened - the Crabs/Fridays can't actually target each other for exchanges being in the same subleague, the only reason the trade went through like that is because the Dale traded Breadwinner to the Crabs for Horseman first - so if it is sabotage it's the Crabs somehow arranging multiple chained trades to exchange a 5 star batter for a 5 star batter (weird), the Dale somehow becoming massively more aggressive and risking getting their own 5 star back (Horseman was originally Dale IIRC) if the trades go through the wrong way, or some unrelated third party just casting random votes around for the hell of it (not impossible given what happened earlier in the week). Beyond that, it's "people off discord do weird poo poo for no apparent reason", which there's not much to do about it aside from trying to put more votes into wills themselves.

This is definitely weird and an overreaction though, given that sabotage has literally demonstrably happened and teams are outright saying they've done sabotage adjacent things (Tigers have apparently admitted to screwing over the Lovers by using them as a middleman on trades, although I'm not clear on the details). Thankfully they do seem to be calming down a bit and letting strategy talk resume, at least.

e:Oh woof actually just looked at the % on that Fridays thing. I take it back something is UP

I'm assuming that we'll see changes to how flutes work for season 15. Wills are great and the chaos is good but like the point of them is "some stupid thing happened, there's nobody you can point a finger at because it's all blind and random". Even the faintest whiff of interference is going to get everybody riled up and screaming 'rigged!' even if the real culprit is bad luck or a large % of the playerbase really not caring much about optimisation and just wanting the player with the funny name.

To tip the scale in any meaningful way against a whole team's playerbase you'd either need a cabal of people coordinating to flute over to cast votes for the exact same thing en masse (which afaik no team would dare coordinate in any centralised capacity, since the team captains are all in constant communication with each other), or you'd need to be hoarding votes for multiple seasons just to take a punt on dicking another team over. Or getting coins through exploitation but it seems TGB are hot on that.

Since all the discourse starters are in the wills you could lock the cheeseboard for a week after opening a new account or switching teams - even if just to reassure people that interference like this is difficult to do.

There's another example with the Worms exchanging a 5 star batter for a Crabs 2 star. Granted it was only a 2% chance of happening there but 27% of their exchange votes vs well you can see the fridays vote.

I'll shut up about it now but man something sketchy went down and it's like the crabs got 5 Wills.

Yeah a big proportion of the worms (myself included) are happy if they win or lose as long as they do it consistently so I'd not be surprised if it was a shortsighted intentional attempt to pull dead weight onto the team.

When life gives you lemons, suplex those lemons.

It's funny that wills are intended to give smaller teams a chance to improve but instead makes them really easy to gently caress up. Wimdys/sabotage can ruin a team pretty badly so you have to sink so many of your votes to prevent it, meaning you have less votes to put on Blessings.

And FIVE out of eight wills can actively gently caress it up for you. Getting a Trust/Infuse on the wrong player usually isn't earth-shattering, and Enrich is basically a payday loan instead of a long term plan, but Plunder/Exchange/Foreshadow/Alternate can all devastate a team if used the right way.

But even a non-detrimental Will can push out something your team badly needs. If giving flippers to some random batter (or pitcher lol) means you can't replace a non-performing player it's another week wasted.

Moist Talkers got At-Worst slightly inconvenient* wimdy in both of the previous seasons and this season we decided gently caress THIS, OUR ACTUAL PLAN IS GOING THROUGH and sunk tonnes of votes to make sure what we wanted actually happened this time. Like maybe 25% of our total logged discord votes were on Operation Yeet Zim.

But we're a big team and can afford that voting power and had enough left over to semi-accidentally win Headliners. Like you can't avoid wimdy or other goofball plans from off-Discord if you only have a handful of fans coordinating. 3 people with big pocketbooks can gently caress it all up for you, whether they're well-meaning fans that are on a sub-optimal strategy, or rogue agents intentionally looking to sewer you.

*S13 someone Plundered PolkaDot Patterson BACK onto the MTs for the pitcher we just Foreshadowed up. I'm not going to complain about getting one of the best pitchers in the game back on our team, but we were fine with them getting stolen in S12 because we figured they'd get pinched eventually and we could recuperate.

I wouldn't be surprised if Wills turned into a decree-esque vote, but looking throughout the ones executed it just doens't seem like most teams are organized enough to get good odds and might still lose out to Plunder every election. A lot of things in the "20 something %" chance of happening just screams of a small organized voting block that barely dents the total fanbase.

e; Yeah even if they do a "the two wills with the most votes win", and within those wills "the target(s) with the most votes wins", some of these 25%'ers are still going to effectively be random.
