Something I've been wondering with this story line, has Dustin always lived in the mother-in-law apartment or did he get put there when he graduated college and came back to find they converted his room into an office or something? Because that would mean they have a spare room they could put the grandfather in but are still intent on messing with Dustin.
I might have to go digging thru some old strips and see if they show how things were when Dustin was younger.

Aren't they rich? Shouldn't he have his own room inside their home? Why is Dustin living on top of the garage as if he was banished there?

I mean, I know the answer is 'gently caress Dustin!', but still.

Team Evans always gets bored of doing a story very quickly. I fully expected them to cut away to someone else around the time Bernice had that talk with her brother.
I just expected a little more considering the girl got run over by a car and is homeless. I mean they really set up a long story there.

This one's a little different, as it wasn't a published newspaper serial but an adaptation of one of O'Donnell's MB books. Per Wikipedia:

quote:

O'Donnell, to give Romero some additional work, gave the artist permission to adapt one of his short stories as a comic that was published in the Scandinavian anthology magazine Agent X9 in 2002, later being reprinted in the US in a special issue of Comics Revue.

When this wraps up, we'll move on to the final MB comic adventure - The Zombie!

Deceitful and black-hearted, perhaps we are. But we would never go against the Code. Well, perhaps for good reasons. But mostly never.

We'll be seeing a wide variety of slurs in the future but people saying them are pretty unambiguously presented as assholes. The n-word here is a bit trickier, it's the old thing where for Koivisto's generation it's a perfectly normal word for black people, but he also does not shy away from the fact that pretty much all of these small town Finns are to some degree racist. I'll leave it as is for now but will gladly clean it up in the future if the thread finds it too much.

Didn't think of that, but that's a good point. I suspect since there are two characters completely uninvolved with the recent story, and with knowledge of how this strip has gone in the past, that is not where this is going, but it could.

I rescind my snark.

Well, that loving sucked! Axa took back Dirk despite him proving to be a massive dirtbag ("I can't help you with that giant squid, Axa! I got no weapons!"), and then Axa just leaves those pirates alone. What, not even going to lead the villagers to help her take down the gang that's raiding fishing villages or anything?

If this were Val, he'd be marching in that cave to kill those pirates, sword in his hand and song in his heart.

Again a very likpatous story

"Sorry but can you put a shirt on or something? It's making this conversation really awkward."

Yeah that story kinda sucked. At first I went "Oh hey, Dirk's swimming towards her, he's going to do something to help!" and then just "Sorry no weapons can't help ya!"

Overall though Dirk is still probably better than Jason and his "A rigged casino where we enslave people and force them to fight in death matches? I can't wait to start running it!"

Rae, you can't just write "one dollar" on a piece of paper and try and pass it off as an actual dollar.

Jason has the higher highs and the lower lows, I think. Would Dirk rescue the boatman? Probably not. Would Dirk take over a rigged casino with slavery and death matches? Also probably not, or at least that's not the vibe I get from him. Dirk has a pretty consistent level of suckage.

And yeah, not a great story though Axa got to kick some rear end which was nice. I'm 'eh' on her not helping them attack the pirates, but she could have showed them where the base was at least.

Does Dustin pay rent on this separate apartment/bachelor pad? His family feel free to barge in any time they feel like it which is rude as gently caress whether or not he's paying rent, and to move whole-rear end other people in on a whim without discussing it with him. I feel like he should go NC.
