Oh yeah, it's up to 114 issues now. These mascot comics like Scoob and Shag, Breakfast of the Gods (which sadly no longer seems to be available for free anymore,) and arguably Tails Gets Trolled are all very surreal, and yet strangely engrossing.

This is as much about print publishing as web publishing, but John Allison shared his sketches and work process for Circus Windows on patreon. I'm a subscriber so I don't know if that's free for everyone to read, but I found it interesting.

Ugh, yes, way too much romance stuff for this girl. I am subscribed to sooo many, so I'll give you a representative sample. I do have some straight-up horror on the list and I also have Canvas ones where the artist is still learning and I'm not going to leave those people open to goon mockery. Castle Swimmer https://www.webtoons.com/en/fantasy/castle-swimmer/list?title_no=1499 I avoid the comments section because it's full of people who screamed at the creator last year for having to extend her hiatus to deal with death in the family Shiloh https://www.webtoons.com/en/thriller/shiloh/list?title_no=1649 Caution: Violence, some of it graphic. Heir's Game https://www.webtoons.com/en/drama/heirs-game/list?title_no=1445 Yep, more violence! Also romance and some comedy but also a lot of grim stuff. Trailer Park Warlock https://www.webtoons.com/en/comedy/trailer-park-warlock/list?title_no=1512 Mostly comedy. The last two story arcs have been more serious, which is something infecting all of my favourite comedy webtoons and I wish they'd stop. Still a good one. Eleceed https://www.webtoons.com/en/action/eleceed/list?title_no=1571 Caution: Cruelty toward cats for the first arc. Alternates between serious and hilarious, which is actually very nice. Lavender Jack https://www.webtoons.com/en/super-hero/lavender-jack/list?title_no=1410 Currently on hiatus. Violence! Also mystery and thriller and really, really good. Apocalyptic Horseplay https://www.webtoons.com/en/supernatural/apocalyptic-horseplay/list?title_no=635 Completed. Mostly serious. It's the end of the world! Again! Under The Aegis https://www.webtoons.com/en/fantasy/under-the-aegis/list?title_no=436 Completed. I love this story! From Canvas: Spera https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/spera/list?title_no=337813 Each chapter has a different artist Necahual https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/necahual/list?title_no=216820 Becoming avatars of the gods to battle evil Hayden's Notes https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/haydens-notes/list?title_no=437310 Smarmy little poo poo but the notes are amazing Crooked Mile https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/crooked-mile/list?title_no=145444 Lovely black-and-white artwork

Aside from Outsider, I'm following Gunnerkrigg Court, Order of the Stick, and I need to catch up with Kill 6 Billion Demons. If you're looking for a (largely) lighthearted fantasy webcomic, you could do worse than Gaia, which seems to be quickly approaching its conclusion. Now the start does have what seems to be a love triangle situation, but rest assured that it's barely part of the story, and doesn't really come up much after Chapter 1.

Friend on twitter was talking about Lore Olympus, and well I like Greek Mythology things and like the art; I think the claims of incest are wrong because it seems like the game Hades they retconned the 6 Olympians being siblings. I don't know recency bias and I appreciate that it does treat some serious subject matters maturely (that and gives content warnings for it)

Are you saying that in original Greek mythology Hades, Posideon, Zeus, and Demeter weren't siblings? That Athena, Ares, Aphrodite, Hermes, and Dionysus aren't half-siblings with Zeus as their father? Because, uh, you're mistaken. Yes, some versions of myths have, for example, Aphrodite and Hermes having Uranus as their father, but the family relations of the gods was a thing in the original myths.

It's the afterword at the end of the comic where the real alarming talk starts, people in the comments are actually concerned the author fell into a cult with the conspiracy theory talk about the vaccination passports and the talk of worthlessness. edit: Also, some people who had trouble with religion in the past are mad because the author never said anything about the comic being about Christianity when she previewed it nor when she first linked it, and were caught unaware about content they normally would have avoided. isasphere fucked around with this message at 20:05 on Mar 23, 2021 |

isasphere posted:It's the afterword at the end of the comic where the real alarming talk starts, people in the comments are actually concerned the author fell into a cult with the conspiracy theory talk about the vaccination passports and the talk of worthlessness. hoo buddy you wasn't kiddin quote:Then 2020 rolled in with its pandemic, and in late summer many people (much smarter than me) started pointing out the striking similarities between the core concepts of how a Social Credit Sysytem works and the proposed (back then still "hypothetical") health passorts. The proposals were of the spirit that anyyone who in the future wished to travel, attend public gatherings, use trains, buses or other public transportation, would be rewuired to join a the new Health Passport system. Some organizations were proposing it should eventually be rquire even to attend university, visit libraries, banks, shopping centers or hotels, possibly even every day grocery stores If you refused you'd simply not be allowed to participate in society. If that were to turn from a hypothetical solution into reality it'd be very easy to turn into a full-on global Social Credit System by simply reframing that "health passport" as a general "good citizen" passport. (*Note*:As I'm writing this the hypothetical suggestions are being made reality, the European Union just recently announced ther coming "Green pass". Deciding to name it vaguely the "Green pass" instead of the "Health passport" does seem to imply an intent to use if for more than just health purposes in the future years. *End note*) quote:What's not to like? Everyone just goes with the flow of the system and enjoy an endless flow of cheap trinkets and gadgets to consume, an ever-increasing stream of free entertainment to fill every waking moment; movies and videogames and pornography and events. You can spend your Universal Basic Income on restaurants of all sorts and travel and thrilling "experiences" for pictures on social media. If somehow you still feel unfulfilled just consume a pile of self-help books that will teach you how to reach enlightenment by loving yourself more, manifesting your higher consciousness and finding the divine of your own self. If that doesn't help just smoke some weed, or seek something stronger from your doctor. You'll be content one way or another. Nobody will be around anymore to tell you about how you sin against God, to repent and humbly turn to Christ for forgiveness and salvation from the judgement that comes at the end of everyone's lives. That would be offensive, hurtful and harmful, and thus not allowed! You can say that Jesus loves you and wants you to live your best life, that's it! But... we're not there yet. The all-silencing Social Credit System is not yet here, and there's still time to sound the message of salvation. quote:But as so many other last year (2020), I was jolted out of my comfort. And through many turns God, by his providence, allowed me to undertand something of how truly sinful my nature is, and how little I deserve mercy. How no amount of doing good could ever make me righteous enough to deserve being in God's presence. I'm exceedingly prideful, self-righteous, greedy, covetous. There's so much spite and envy in my heart. So much love for myself and so little for God, even if I tried to excuse myself and pretend otherwise. And most of my life I'd belittled God and sneered at biblical Christianity, while elevating myself as more enlightened and wise as a progressivism-minded Atheist. Yet despite all this God granted me the gift of belief in His existance, and then, in late autumn of 2020, repentance and forgiveness throught his son Jesus Christ. I have nothing to fear.
