2 is kind of like 4, so: I played the PS2 Buffy the Vampire Slayer game recently (I have a fondness for low-budget PS2 games based on live-action properties). There's a character in there who's clearly meant to be Alyson Hannigan, a really well-done likeness considering the hardware, but then the voice actor is someone who sounds like their hobby is making fun of Alyson Hannigan's voice.

Really janky, tons of fun if you're into that stuff. There's an absurdly involved combo system with 5-6 pages of explanatory text in an in-game manual, but also every enemy can be defeated by using the "throw" command and then stabbing them while they're on the ground. Also it's loving impossible without a walkthrough, though maybe it'd be less bad if I'd ever watched a single episode of the show it's based on.

Whoa, I had completely forgotten about this game! I used to play it at my friend's house in elementary school, she was obsessed with the Buffy series. Talk about a blast from the past...

Subnautica is great because while the survival and base building stuff is there, if it doesn't interest you, you don't have to go all out with it and can instead focus on exploration and story. Crafting management in the base got a bit much for me later on.

You don't even need a wheel for it because it supports DS4 gyro control and lets you use the controller as a steering wheel and it works amazingly well.

Oh man did I beat the face of Lady Butterfly. Cling cling clang *shiruken her out of the air* cling cling clang. Such a beautiful fight. It’s literally music. I didn’t even bother with the snap seeds. I hope having so much luck with her means my revisit with genichiro will be easier too. Kinda a long shot but am trying to fix R2 button. The issue is that it doesn’t do anything when pressed, then will constantly trigger itself when untouched. Makes Witcher 3 a bit hard with nonstop sign casting.

A month ago three directional buttons had stopped working so I replaced the controller circuit overlay and for a few weeks was good to go, then the R2 issue started. I’ve tried cleaning and resetting it but no dice. Would appreciate any tips, thanks.

Yes, poo poo I’m not even that far in it right now and it’s the best souls game I’ve played hands down. Bloodborne is a very close second, I liked the Bloodborne world and lore a bit more than Sekiro and the combat felt bloodier, what with being completely coated in blood by the end of a fight. I’m just starting to explore the area around Ashina castle gatehouse and reservoir right now. From has made games here that evolve people into objectively better players. Sekiro is the crown of everything gained from playing through the dark souls series and Bloodborne, and even within itself elevates a player to levels far higher than they were before starting. I just kicked lone shadow longswordsman’s rear end down in the reservoir. It’s a small fight, but so intense and is yet another mini-test of everything learned up to that point.

I think I’m supposed to fight seven spears next. He’s one of the hardest in the game still, right? I also have forgotten where I’m supposed to be going, either senpou temple or take the plunge into the depths, or actually enter Ashina castle and start all that exploring? Is there a best order here?

There's a documentary series that was released on Netflix recently called 'Age of Samurai: Battle for Japan' that has made a nice little companion piece for me while playing Sekiro again recently. It was helpful for understanding why everyone is so capable of kicking my rear end (over a century of war), and as a plus the Ashina Clan make an appearance (things did not go well).

Not sure how many weeks, but it entirely depends on how long it takes me to finish DS2 and DS3.

At least with me guranteed playing every tuesday, friday and sunday that is a load of time each week to get through them so hopefully not too many weeks away. Before I set a schedule I was all over the place. I require structure to function :)

I will say I am awfully tempted to switch Sekrio and DS3 around in the playlist.

I wanna say do it, because you might as well break up 3 consecutive dark souls games with a different From game that feels way different than the Soulsborne games. But at the same time, DS3 is my favorite of the trilogy, and I’m looking forward to you streaming it. Are you going to stream Sekiro, despite it being single player? (u should anyways !)

This was my thinking, break up the souls games with a change of pace. Really though I have so much awesome gameplay to come that I feel blessed!

And oh yes I am streaming all From games. Even if Sekrio has no multiplayer, it still falls under my from Journey! :D

I think I will stream some other games after this too. This setup I have structured is really good for helping me play through and focus, so perhaps some of the other big games I have left to play (Last Guardian ;), Persona 5 Royale, FFVIIRemake, TLOU) I will make my way through if I stick to playing the same way. No idea if it will be as entertaining but I can try at least.

Oh yeah, what is that game exactly? I've heard people talk about it some and it seemed interesting.

I really like it - played it for the first time last year and it's a top five of all time for me now. On mobile so I'll spare you an essay:

* It's a survival crafting game, but not procedurally generated. So obviously smaller play area, but far more interesting/ beautiful to explore. It really captures a feeling of wonder for me, feels very Jacques Cousteau and SciFi at the same time.

*It does not reward combat, and you are not at the top of the food chain.

* Cool vehicles, each with their own sorta "personality"/uses

* Serviceable plot with silent protagonist. The lategame can be quite buggy, especially with one vehicle (the one best suited for it)

It apparently controls like arse in VR, but still salty the PS4 version doesn't have a VR mode as my PC is not VR capable.

I mean, if you're a successful actress and you go out of the house in a skirt and without underwear, knowing that paparazzi are just waiting for opportunities like this and that it has happened many times before, then there's really nobody you can blame for it but yourself.
I'd personally call Subnautica an exploration game first and foremost. It can have survival elements, but those are optional and many people recommend just toggling off thirst and hunger altogether. The "not procedurally generated" part is actually pretty important - the world is hand-crafted and there are important things to find in certain places. You're supposed to go through and explore the game in a certain order, which it will gently push you towards. It's a bit like a low-combat metroidvania game in that it rewards exploration primarily by enabling you to travel to more places that were previously inaccessible to you.

It's not a game that's easy to sum up in a single sentence because it does something fairly unique. I'd recommend playing it just for the experience.
