It would be fine it's just it has about 10 megabytes of storage free at any one time and while it is allegedly a smartphone it cannot run any apps without crashing except whatsapp some of the time, so I am considering an upgrade.

That's why I have to get a new smartphone despite it having 16GB internal memory (500-600MB free) and a 32GB microSSD in it. Fed up of having to juggle the apps : uninstalling to get updates then reinstalling etc. It's android so it's stuffed full of Google bloatwear. I've had it 5 years. I expect something costing approx £100 to last longer than that.

I did the whole of my PhD that consisted of analysing literally millions of spacecraft data records on 3GB machine. Now I can't even run Messenger and have to use Messenger Lite, and run facebook via the browser using the really cut down version of facebook.

Meanwhile in weird 'verification email' from yahoo chat due to me apparently sitting in Mexico and trying to sign in:

Is it safe to look up email addresses on one of these 'have you been pwned' sites?
I was just googling about and someone commented that a dodgy person might ask for a verification code hoping it will go to a secondary email address that has been pwned so I wanted to check it out. But I bow to the greater knowledge ITT and thought I'd ask if it is safe to look that up!

My main phone is a Pay As You Go Sony Xperia J from 2012.

Be interesting to see what happens with my current phone, my old one was 32gb and constantly having performance issues related mainly to space, but now I have a 128gb Pixel that has run as smooth as butter since day one, and I can't imagine what reason I could possibly have to replace it, unless I break it.

The thing that gets me about the milk alien photo is the weirdly body-hugging top on the woman that makes this become so obviously horny. Like, the shot is impossible to be candid because, well, the alien, but then getting that definition on the boobs just shows where the priority lay.

I genuinely loved my 00s experience of Nokia dumbphones as mobile internet came about and later the dumbphones that could play mp3s so I could ditch the discman (editor's note: I was never rich enough for my own discman and use it only as a reference) and listen to my own, extremely cringe, music on the way to/from school.

I'm guessing they're faked locations using proxies. A site I used a couple of years ago had a data breach last March.

I think I better have a 'check all my accounts activity' project for the next few days. (I have many email accounts!)

Call centre staff to be monitored via webcam for home-working ‘infractions’
Exclusive: Teleperformance, which employs 380,000 people, plans to use specialist webcams to watch staff

When approached by the Guardian, the company said the remote scans would not be used in the UK.

Thousands of staff at one of the world’s biggest call centre companies face being monitored by webcams to check whether they are eating, looking at their phones or leaving their desks while working from home, the Guardian has learned.

In a sign of potential battles ahead over the surveillance of remote staff after the pandemic, Teleperformance – which employs about 380,000 people in 34 countries and counts dozens of major UK companies and government departments among its clients – has told some staff that specialist webcams will be fitted to check for home-working “infractions”.

etc

Not to be used in the UK. Yeah, right. Darn sure it will become a condition of employment for those for whom this is the only work choice available (like those working time directive opts out employees willingly sign. Erm... )

Those photos are from a series called Understanding Joshua by Charlie White:

quote:

White said he “conceptualized” Joshua “as a literal manifestation of ontological insecurity.” How viewers then respond to this alien, even grotesque figure and the situations he is placed in by White challenges the viewers’ empathy and reflects their own insecurities. Audiences have been engaged and repelled, even angered, by this work. Nearly life-size, and hung at eye level, the pictorial space of the image merges with that of the viewer in the gallery. White carefully positioned the arm of one of the abusive men across the front of the group, creating a kind of barrier preventing the viewer from entering and interceding. According to White, the ongoing torment of a shower of milk was meant to suggest impending and escalating violence rather than the completed action of a physical blow. This creates a tension and an impossible desire to intercede that is more powerful than if he had shown the aftermath of a violent act, which would leave the viewer as a voyeur rather than a participant observer.

Although the staging of this work and the artificiality of the puppet figure, Joshua, is obvious, this picture still provokes a strong emotional response in the viewer. Both male and female viewers are appalled by the obvious cruelty of the tormenting of a woman by this circle of brutish young men, yet some empathize with both the victim
and the attackers. Curiously, the unrealistic figure of Joshua may be the means of creating the contradictory responses. His role as tormentor, passive observer, or even another victim remains ambiguous, but like the passive viewers in the gallery, he is automatically implicated by his inaction.
.

It's definitely intentionally horny but it's from a place of examining male feelings of alienation and inadequacy. I suggest you look up the other photos cause they're cool and interesting. Just google "Understanding Joshua".

The weirdest thing is that I doubt even Orwell predicted that most of us would pay for a variety of screens watching our every move, in a lot of cases through various repayment schemes we need to work our asses off to cover. He envisioned the state at least building housing with the screens built in.

It includes 'financial record keeping' though and it's decades since I did that formally (double-entry, trial balance all that stuff). So after a bit of a google, I'm cramming a free Open Learn basic short course on book-keeping, a free (limited time offer) slightly more advanced short course on accounting and bookkeeping (not sure if the whole course is free or if I just get 4 weeks free access to a 16 week course - we'll see!) and yet another free course on Xero (which they use and I've never seen except those daft ads on tv).
