I think that if Watson is a Texan next season, he'll play (if allowed). He's lost almost all of his leverage if he still wants out of Houston and is probably stuck there, then when you factor in potential criminal charges, it's possible that he may not get to play in the NFL ever again. He probably doesn't have a lot of time left to play, and if he hasn't realized it already, he will soon

I generally would argue that civil suits shouldn't prevent someone doing their job as opposed to actual criminal charges but in this case it would be absurdly stupid for both the Texans and the NFL to let him take the field

I’m becoming increasingly concerned that this lawyer might not be up for the task of juggling the suits of 20+ women but I’m no lawyer.

Like, I’m not gonna pretend that I followed the cases closely but I can easily say that the lawyers who represented Weinstein’s victims went about this a lot differently. And they didn’t all use the same lawyer either. Also maybe I’m reading into this the wrong way because obviously a lawyer needs to protect their clients but a strategy of keeping all the women anonymous in the background so that all eyes and attention is on this lawyer makes me question his motives. And in the court of public opinion I think it’s a losing strategy. Shimrra Jamaane fucked around with this message at 05:09 on Mar 27, 2021 |

But there should be higher standards for people who are extremely wealthy (and so won't face financial hardship from not being able to work) and work in jobs where they are necessarily famous and beloved. And that's leaving aside that Watson specifically used his status as an athlete to gain access to these women, to push boundaries and to threaten them.

Plumbers, by their very nature, have to go into peoples' houses. I'm fine with one of them being benched while two dozen sexual assault cases are pending.

Intruder posted:There's literally no defense in my mind. These aren't sex workers. I think sex work should be ok but these are massage therapists trying to get a career started. So even if these encounters were "consensual" like he claims it's a person with the ability to make or break their careers putting them in a high pressure position where he's asking for something they weren't intending to give Right. This isn't "consensual" because they're not showing up with the expectation or desire to gently caress him. He's taking advantage of his status as a famous athlete and pressuring women into sexual things with him. He could fly in escorts or actual real sex workers who would provide him with a massage and sex, but that's not what he wants. He obviously is getting off on taking advantage of women and forcing them into this poo poo. This can't be consensual because of the power imbalance from him as a powerful client and them as people trying to do their job or start a career.

A Texas lawyer put up a summary FAQ about the whole thing. Some of it is common sense but then she gets into legal questions in the middle https://www.stradleylaw.com/blog/deshaun-watson-lawsuits-questions/

Watson absolutely could work out hard enough to warrant that. Of course he's just getting them this frequently because he's a sex monster who likes to pressure masseuses he meets on instagram into jacking him off and milking his prostate

I found this out the hard way. I was on a four-day at Edelweiss, the Armed Forces resort in Garmisch. I had a massage booked, and they said I had several options, one of which was the masseuse who worked with the German Olympic team, but they warned me it would be intense. They said this in front of my wife, so of course I said "Cool". She turned out to be a 5 foot blonde German who weighed less than 100 lbs, and who had thumbs that could puncture steel plate. I'm proud that I didn't manage to cry.

When he was starting out, Russell Wilson was getting ten hours of massage per week per ESPN. I’m not sure what that number is now since he’s married with kids, but it’s probably still high?

Find a decent spa and try it; any professional masseuse will respect your boundaries if you state them up front. It's a shame the experience has gotten tainted by association with our country's one cheap trick to get around prostitution laws. And not all massages are meant to be enjoyable; as Fiz said, sports massages are basically "manhandle this ridiculously tuned slab of muscle back somewhat towards normalcy", which requires some really sadistic practices. It was my dumb rear end that didn't realize that at the time and tried to puff up in front of my wife. I earned my suffering.

If you can push through it a time or two it really does help. I've never felt so flexible or relaxed as after a really deep massage. The puking thing is for real though; I didn't puke but I felt nauseous for a half hour or so after the first one I did.

I once got a vigorous sports massage from a tiny-but-strong Estonian lady while badly hung over and operating on maybe 5 hours of sleep. Made it through, but had to give up on my hotel breakfast afterwards when waves of nausea appeared (although the hangover may have played a bigger part).

A new slate of suits dropped this morning. You all are familiar with Watson's MO by now so I'm just gonna quote the stuff that seems new or unusual. Go ahead and read the suits if you have the stomach for it, I might've missed an important detail. #17 quote:Plaintiff is a flight attendant. quote:At one point Watson got so persistent that he offered to drive to Plaintiff in Pearland, Texas to her mother's house so they could do the massage. quote:Plaintiff reached out to one of her friends who played for the NFL and told him the complete story. This NFL player told her there is a thin line between physical therapy and sexual pleasure. The NFL player said Watson crossed that line over into sexual pleasure. Wonder who that guy is. #18 quote:Plaintiff was also terrified of what Watson would do to her career after she fired him. #19 This one opens with this interesting statement: quote:As a result of the repeated lawsuits against him, Watson is deleting Instagram messages and contacting those who formally provided him massages, in an attempt to settle. Plaintiffs have not brought these cases for money or attention; instead Plaintiffs seek a change in behavior with regard to Watson and a change of culture in the NFL. quote:Plaintiff told him no. Watson told Plaintiff that he would pay extra money and said, "Don't worry, no one is going to know." Plaintiff said no. Watson then grabbed Plaintiff's hand and made her touch his penis.
