Enough time has passed that I can now safely say Robert Downey Jr. was terrible as Tony Stark because the Ultimates Tony Stark they were shooting for was based on Robert Downey Jr.: the smug self-obsessed junkie rear end in a top hat, but Disney obviously was terrified of that so instead he played him as a cuddly fascist. But Samuel L. Jackson knocked it out of the park as Ultimates Samuel L. Fury.
