4Kids already cut so much poo poo that 143 Japanese epsidoes were carved into 104 English episodes. And that's on top of editing cigarettes into lollipops, blood into sweat, and guns into weird hammers. Anything that would be simply dubbed into a new meaning was probably a godsend.

Paris Hilton spoke to the Utah state senate about how horrible and abusive those child treatment centers are. Suddenly all the "lol rich kid" behavior makes a lot of sense when you learn how emotionally and physically abused they were for major parts of their childhood.

I see this sentiment a lot from self-described Real Leftists and it confuses me, because it seems so incurious. Eager to create demons and enemies out of potential allies.

The "cancellation" phenomenon can best be understood as a product of capitalist alienation! When the worker has no power over their representatives, no power over their workplace, then of course desperate people who see the world as broken and in need of fixing will flock to the few avenues of power they see as attainable - exerting their will and anger on hapless individuals.

These people present an opportunity to organize huge masses of people who already recognize that the world we live in is malformed and unsustainable. A dismissive regard for "Idpol" is reactionary and counterproductive - it casts these people, who are overwhelmingly from marginalized populations, as loving p-zombies instead of members of the proletariat.

It's because it describes a very loud subset of Democratic Party apparachiks, like the Khive, who empathically do not give a poo poo about making things better but only that the boot is more diverse. In fact if you ask for things to be better, they'll attack you (like Bernie was).

Hmm, I don't think that line is meant to be taken as an endorsement of everyone attacking her. Ellis making a bad (though more tone deaf than heinous) tweet and her reacting poorly to criticism can occur simultaneously with the fact that a significant portion of the responses to her were just formless attacks and character assassinations based in part on speculation about her private life.

Yeah it's a problem in the US Left I've found, people who are class reductionists who dismiss any work or action to confront racism in this country by calling it liberal idpol. I'm sorry but in this country you aren't going to unite the masses by just boiling everything down to class. Or worse yet have an imagined reality where most of the working class are these 1970s New Jersey dock workers who will won't join your org because of ASL clapping or giving pronoun introductions at meetings. And instead just saying this is all "Professional Managerial Class" stuff (which often is claimed by people with jobs that would make themselves PMC). The biggest brain takes I've seen from these types is we shouldn't push on a platform to abolish the police because that would "alienate" the working class, but instead push to give the cops more money because you see the reason cops are racist is wealth inequality. The other worst poo poo is pushing to be "normal" which really is "we think the working class is white cis abled so you queers need to dress up properly so we can be treated seriously".

So in short gently caress class reductionists, stupidpol jagoffs, nazbols, and other lazy organizers who don't want to do the hard work to unite the masses.

very much agreed but i do think there are folks who are just weird idpol types who are just looking to stencil another mark on plane. that being said alot of those folks are angry kids or people with a ton of other issues going on and this is there outlet. i also think the folks you talked about are quick to poo poo on people who only do it when people actually do stupid or racist poo poo. i think the lesson is don't be resetera because they seem to be the worst of both groups at once.

The idea that there’s some reservoir of racists whites who would otherwise join a mass labor movement is astounding to me. Even if they accurately perceive some aspects of the problem, racist whites already have their own violent, antihuman solutions and have been enacting them for a while. They want to kill us almost as badly as they want to kill everyone else.

Oh I don't disagree, I've definitely seen my fair share of bad-faith attacks from those who are trying to just inch in another burn on her at best or throw more fuel on the fiery discourse at worst. But that people seem to be characterising this simplistic narrative of her being some poor victim rather than the more complex reality that there is infuriating. (and also it's hilarious that people are brining up parallels between her and the current Twitter 'response' [which is obviously nowhere near a monolith] to the left and 'liberal idpol')
