My dad passed away when I was 19. I'd be really curious to talk politics with him today since so much in Nebraska is conservative. My mom still has very conservative views. When she visited for Thanksgiving she'd bring up politics after a drink or two. She's visiting again this week so it'll be interesting to see how that goes this time.

I’m in a similar boat. My mom died when I was 16, and after that my dad gave me a lot more freedom. Somewhat because I was old enough to drive and do stuff on my own, and because he didn’t really have time to monitor everything I did. I generally stayed out of trouble anyway. My personality kind of opened up after that, so sometimes I wonder what I would be like if my mom never died.

My parents are republicans and even voted for trump because the people behind Biden pulling the socialist strings bullshit. My brother leans republican but has grown apathetic and I've become full blown hard left leaning let's take care of people and stop letting ourselves keep being held down. My dad is also one of those the lord is coming soon enough so make sure you are on the right side.

It's always crazy to see people having insane family members, but I suppose you can't fault who your parents were. I'm just glad mine have been supportive, pretty left (my mom didn't vote for Bill Clinton because he was too much of a neoliberal and went green, whoever the candidate was back then), and don't act like typical privileged boomers.

If we're talking Clinton's reelection bid, she probably voted for Ralph Nader

Yeah similar situation here Ehud. Reconnected with my parents after two years when my son was born but the relationship is still paper thin. Younger sister stopped talking to me when we insisted she get a flu shot before meeting the baby. Older sister stopped talking to me many years prior when I didn't get married in the church.

Rodgers did nothing wrong.

Yep. I believe like the same week or shortly after, Wes Welker made one for the Patriots.

Just a kicker, he's apparently good for his level too? First team all conference kicker for whatever the SAC is (it's NAIA).

He wants to teach high school when he graduates, and I want to go back in time and take one of his classes.

I saw one of these saying there were a million of them on the boat, and all I could think was “are you really going to be able to sell a million of those in the UK?” Just an astoundingly large number.

My grandfather on my dad's side spent a huge part of his life in an iron lung which led to the family farm being sold because he couldn't work on it (his dad, my great grandfather, served in WWI and kept some German helmet trophies which is pretty wild). He died while I was a kid so I barely knew him and all I really know about him is he had a really frayed relationship with my dad because he was a hippie. My grandmother worked until she died and lost everything after she got remarried very late in life to a guy that rewrote her will while she was in hospice. My dad had a sister that lost her life in her 20's due to lupus. My dad is the last surviving member of that family tree outside of his kids.

My grandfather on my mom's side was the definition of a functioning alcoholic, which kind of par for the course for an Irish immigrant. Also worked until he died. My grandmother passed shortly after he didd. My mom was the last of seven. Only keep in touch with a handful of people on that side because most are about as MAGA as you can get, plus some extremely hosed up poo poo.
