I'm completely right. Visual experience has been flattened, you have people addicted to super hero movies just for the spectacle, I'll publish my paper I promise.

But it's also completely worthless, everybody has the tools and tutorials to make anything and everything, but everything is flat corporate humans with a bit of noise texture trying to make your sign in experience to your insurer do a little better or 3000 hours of work per frame garbage super hero movies.

If “everybody” could make anything and everything with just tutorials I would be making insane money off catering to furry people with more money than sense, instead of wasting my time reading these barely-better-than-seraph’s posts.

It’s uncanny. No one but the dumbest idiots would believe they’re getting an email from a Nigerian prince. Likewise, only the absolute single-digit IQ people fall for bitcoin and derivatives.

Ok I think I got it, in B there are air molecules that are flying around at different speeds, so the heat pump selectively filters the faster, hotter air molecules from B and pumps it into A, increasing the heat in A. That is how it can heat A with more power than is input into the system, because the energy already in B is being transferred into A.

Like with everything else there’s been a flattening, which is good in a lot of ways, but with this many technically competent people from all over the world competing for attention, getting noticed and paid is a challenge so this ad hoc crypto wealth redistribution and money laundering scheme is a fun way to do that.

Nobody cares that the gifted child brigade in the SA GBS mock thread figured out that it’s just urls or whatever, everybody knows that, the interesting part is to see if it will have any lasting value as exchanges get shut down and tokens get resold a couple of times. Humans are very good at divining arbitrary scarcity and value.

A good friend and collaborator made a good years earning in two days the other week and I’m very happy for him, but I have no investment at all in NFTs since it’s an insane bubble economy that should have popped two days into the mania.

Artists getting paid for NFT garbage is bad, and artists getting paid for digital art is nothing new. But good on Beeple for making millions in cash money from Deviant Arts-level trash, gotta respect that graft.

Nothing is perpetual, but IPFS a couple of steps over tinyurl. The specific NFT pog mania is already dying, but digital art having potential value is going to be a thing over time, helped by whatever happened now.

For one, many NFTs aren't stored as IPFS links. But also, IPFS isn't magic: Someone needs to host the content, IPFS or not. IPFS is pretty much a worse TinyURL.

at first I thought IPFS was like freenet or filecoin and no one knew what was hosted anywhere and it was all magically distributed but its actually just servers with obscured URLs

also someone earlier said bitcoin was THE currency for human trafficking which is just hyperbole, because while it might be true for some types of it (trading child porn), a real world pimp wants real currency, not pogs

in certain circles, cash will always be the best option for moving large amounts of money around without any paper trail.

Before 2016 broke his and everybody else’s brain Beeple was hugely influential both style- and work ethic-wise and he was giving out his scene files for free with no attribution licenses. If you had any questions on how things worked, he’d spend a lot of time personally explaining and encouraging. A good dude from everything I’ve seen.

Despite its original intention, I think the main use of NFTs is to act as a vessel for money laundering. People already launder money with art, now you don't even have to do it in person or exchange anything physical.
