Maybe a dumb question, but is there an actual difference in the makeup or composition between the first and second doses of mrna slut juice?

Like some others in the thread, I just got given a date to return to the clinic verbally and told "there'd be an email" with further details but it hasn't arrived yet, a little over a week from dose 1.

I got my dose vaccination card with the initial poke dated and am just gonna show up when I was told to if all else fails, but do I need to make sure I'm specifically getting dose 2? Does that matter?

I’m pretty sure it’s just the same shot twice. When I went and got it today there wasn’t any obvious separation between first and second dose people, we all went through the same lines and sat at the same tables and I only saw the one pile of needles at the table. People confirmed it was my first shot, but I didn’t see any visible part where I would have gone somewhere else or done something differently if it were my second.

There are some studies as to whether changing the dosage between shots makes a difference, but currently shot one and shot two are exactly the same for the mRNA vaccines.

PhilHealth identification number now a requirement for COVID-19 vaccination

quote:

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) said Filipinos should know and have their PhilHealth Identification Number (PIN) ready as this is now a requirement prior to receiving the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine.

“In order to avoid delays and problems during vaccination, we encourage our members to know and keep their PIN,” PhilHealth President and CEO Dante A. Gierran said in a statement on Tuesday, March 30.

He added that “for those who do not know their PIN or not yet registered with PhilHealth, they should coordinate with any PhilHealth office or call us so we can provide them their PIN or facilitate their registration.”

The Department of Health (DOH) in Department Memorandum 2021-0099 entitled “Interim Omnibus Guidelines for the Implementation of the National Vaccine Deployment Plan for COVID-19” prescribes among others, that all potential vaccine recipients need to be registered using the unique identifiers and one of which is the vaccinee’s PIN.

The State Agency said members can verify their PIN through any of the following: by calling (02) 8441-7442 (office hours only) or sending an SMS to 0921-630-0009 using the format “PHIC callback PIN VERIF <space> Mobile Number or Metro Manila Landline <dash> Details of your Concern.”

Members can also visit any Local Health Insurance Office or PhilHealth Express near them.

For those still unregistered, PhilHealth said, members have to fill-out the PhilHealth Member Registration Form or PMRF that can be downloaded from https://www.philhealth.gov.ph/ downloads/ membership/pmrf_012020.pdf.

The filled-out PMRF (in pdf or jpeg format), together with scanned copy or clear photo of any of the member’s valid IDs, can be sent to actioncenter@philhealth.gov.ph (with subject: “Register <space> Name <space> City/Province, Region”).

“Upon processing, their assigned PIN will be sent to the email address they have indicated in the PMRF,” said Philhealth.

This is going to be a huge disaster if they actually enforce it because only something like half of the population is a registered PhilHealth member.

I should absolutely have clarified that this was a pfizer operation and I think I did see something on a form about “if this is your second, what did you get first.” I definitely can’t speak to switching mrna brands mid stream, but from what I saw today, a pfizer is a pfizer, it was a bunch of identical syringes sitting in the same undifferentiated spot, and I got waved over to an injection table by a guy who had no way of knowing if this was my first or second dose. Maybe if I said I was on a second moderna dose I would have had to do something else, but I didn’t see a single thing that indicated anyone getting put into a different area.

It was loving fast, too, I can’t believe how fast it was. I was in and out in somewhere between 25 and 30 minutes, including a whole bunch of walking through a big snaking line at sidewalk speed and a fifteen minute observation session. When I made it into the “sit down and don’t die for fifteen minutes” area, I saw a guy standing and asking each new person if they wanted to schedule a second dose, and then a supervisor came over and told him very bluntly to walk around and ask people that, because his asking every new person was creating a backup. If I had to guess, I would say he was asking more than one person per ten seconds, and six people a minute was still enough for a dude to come over and be like “stop loving around you moron, we’re doing something here.” It was extremely impressive.

Oh, Israel is 120% vaccinated? Great graphs, nice mathematics-ing. :v:

Those graphs show the total number of doses administered per capita and don't take into account the fact that most people will be receiving two doses. They actually mention it in the footnotes but if you just looked at the numbers you'd get a very incorrect message about how well the vaccine rollouts are going, they're useless statistics.

These are more accurate:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-03-02/charting-australias-covid-vaccine-rollout/13197518?nw=0

Brazil is only 6.4% vaxxed (1.9% fully vaxxed) and Mexico is only 4.6% vaxxed (0.6% fully vaxxed) fuuuuuck :smith:

11.8% of people vaxxed + 6.3% of people who got a second dose = 18.1% of the population’s worth of doses. Note that in this way of counting by doses, you need to get to 200% for everyone to be fully vaxxed. (Unless you add in J&J vaccine, which makes the statistic essentially useless)

sucks to be right
Melbourne Australia has set up a few mass vaccination centres specifically for frontline workers and emergency services and everyone else who is currently eligible (people over 70, people with underlying health conditions, etc) are supposed to make an appointment with their local participating GP, except supplies are way below what was expected and GPs aren't getting many doses. I'm sure that no one here will be surprised to hear that people started randomly turning up at the mass vaccination centre and asking for a jab

quote:

One woman, Marika, said she turned up to the Convention Centre on Sunday, after hearing from friends that they had been vaccinated at the venue, colloquially known as "Jeff's Shed".

"We just drove straight to Jeff's Shed. [We] parked underground, went up to the venue and it was confirmed that all you had to do was be over 70, give proof of ID and age, driver's licence and Medicare card," she told ABC Radio Melbourne.

"We were in a very short queue of 10 people. By the time we left there were perhaps another 20 behind us."

Claire, another woman who called in, said she had a similar experience at the centre on Saturday.

"We're not healthcare workers, but [are] in the age group," she said.

The state's COVID-19 response commander was NOT happy, LOL

quote:

Mr Weimar said the incidents should not have occurred, and urged the public not to show up at the mass vaccination hubs or hospitals.

"Don't just turn up on spec, on the off chance that you might be able to get in," he said.

"That's not what those centres are for and you will, unfortunately, be asked not to go there.

"I've spoken again to our colleagues and the clinical teams who are running the Convention Centre. The absolute purpose is the high-risk, critical workforce.

"We've got over 600,000 high-risk, critical workforce to do. We've done over 60,000 healthcare workers. We've got a lot more healthcare workers to do."

Mr Weimar said the state's vaccination process needed to be managed and controlled well.

"This is a vaccination program. We're not handing out lollies. This is a really important thing to get right," he said.

Mutations of the coronavirus could render current vaccines ineffective in a year or less, according to a majority of epidemiologists, virologists and infectious disease specialists surveyed by the People’s Vaccine Alliance.

The survey of 77 experts from some of the world’s leading academic institutions across 28 countries found that two-thirds thought that we had “a year or less before the virus mutates to the extent that the majority of first-generation vaccines are rendered ineffective and new or modified vaccines are required.”

Of those surveyed, almost a third gave a timeframe of nine months or less. Fewer than one in eight said they believed that mutations would never render the current vaccines ineffective.

The survey, published Tuesday, was carried out by the People’s Vaccine Alliance — a coalition of over 50 organizations including African Alliance, Oxfam and UNAIDS that campaigns for equal global access to Covid vaccines.
