Aoi Yuuki is perfect in the role, but to be fair, a lot of that credit belongs to the author. Novel Kumoko carries the series just as hard.

I binged up to vol 7 really fast because even the non-Kumoko sections were vastly more engaging in LN format than in the anime. Some characters specifically are just more detailed and have better characterization.

That's it. That's the show. The Kin-control was introduced pretty abruptly. In previous versions, she noticed because had a hatred for dragons that was more than she could account for. Oh well. I love how abruptly and whole-heartedly she jumped on the 'time to consume my spider-mom's mind' plan.

Oh hey they actually managed to make the classmate side of things interesting this time! One thing these changes do while small in the grand scheme of things, also change a bit of the moral calculus going on. Which I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Another change is that Kumo had decided to try evolving into an Arachne way before she even got out of the labyrinth in the novel and manga, it's actually why she picked the form she currently has.

This pushes the needle more towards present Kumoko being the spooky white lady without a voice actor credit. Incidentally, the one shot I could find of her in the opening has white lady next to a very large spider, so maybe she did evolve into an Arachne after all.

I guess she still identifies as a human after all this but Kumoko is pretty cavalier about the whole "I'm going to eat my entire family for dinner" deal. Although to be fair it's not like actual insects/arachnids care about that sort of thing either.
