Super Spy chat: Symmetry is ANVIl I think, she starts showing up once enough ANVIL heat has been generated or you've earned enough cash in ANVIL territories. That's what I was talking about with a wide strategy earlier - reducing your heat in territories doesn't get rid of heat generated, it just lowers your overall heat rate. There's a screen that shows how much heat you have with various agencies, and the only real way to lower it is to distract a full set of investigators so they leave without any suspicion. Once you cross that threshold, the agent is around until you get rid of them. That said, there are ways to keep them from coming to your base - they show up in a territory first, then watch schemes you have ongoing. If you cancel your scheme and don't do anything in the territory, they can't find you and switch territories. I don't know if they ever actually give up for a while or not.

Once they are in a territory, you can also invite them to get them to show up faster. This leads to them showing up with less help, less experienced help, and possibly alone.

When they reach your base, they will show up with a heist team. They will most likely come in by helipad (unless you are doing the one where everyone always comes in from your cover). These guys are tough - if you do not have weapons racks, it's probably cheaper in the long run just to ignore them (don't tag them). You also can't have any violence start in their vicinity, or run your alarm while they are there or they will go hostile. Attempting to distract them is a stat check, and you without any advancements you probably can't (maybe if you are playing as the Spider Chair lady valets could do it since she gives bonus deception to minions) and failing it ends in combat. If you took a combat henchman, they're probably good for 2-3 of the heist group, so those with a decent amount of guards and basic weapon racks (make sure you target them right based on what weapons racks you have) and you can probably eliminate them, which gives you more time before she shows back up on the world map.

Things to not do: Do not invite them and cancel. Do not invite them while they are changing locations on the world map. Do not cancel a scheme, then start another scheme in the same region while they are still there. All of these things can lead to the super agent showing up every time any group of investigators shows up. There are probably more ways to trigger this bug, but trust me it sucks.

some of the agents are total jokes if you have a combat focused genius or henchman - three of super agents i just trigger whenever because a full clip from a boosted eli jr puts them down immediately

that tips thread is super useful, i figured out about half of that organically over the last 25 hours (at some point the world
map UI clicked for me and now it is super easy to read and i see why they made it this way, feels like neo being able to see the matrix)

really surprised how much content is in a single "campaign", i started with max thinking i would learn the ropes and now i'm going to see it all the way thru

Guys, I think I resolved my super agent issues. Complete a super agent sidestory and they simply loving go away until the next chapter of their sidestory is triggered.

What triggers it, if main plot advancement or raising hell in their area again, I have no clue, but I decided that Agent X had to go, I chained 3 or 4 of his sidestories, and now he's still alive but nowhere to be found on the map.
I'll try and do the same with the super saboteur (the Luchador in SMASH) and report back, since Zalika should hard-counter him.

E: anyone knows what their passive effects are on the world map? Agent X generates a lot of heat in the region he's stationed.

There's definitely something unexplained or weird going on with Investigators going kill crazy when a minion tries to escort them back to the casino. I have an open break room just off the casino, no door and no suspicious items in it. Investigators still seemingly randomly start fights with minions when they try to escort them out of the room. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with skill or resolve, they just decide to start fighting. The agents fighting in the screenshot had skill values higher and lower than the investigator that was happy being escorted away.

The world map UI desperately needs a revamp where it just shows you a list of tasks for each region instead of having to search for and click on individual dots.

The side stories presumably will eventually lead to the reveal of their weakness and subsequent permadeath but I haven't gotten any of those unlocked yet. Has anyone? It feels like it takes forever to get anything to progress. I still don't even have t3 research and I've already built/tested the superweapon.

This definitely has the EG1 death spiral where you have too much super agent traffic, too many body bags, and defections and tons of deaths leave you chronically understaffed.

This is why my current strategy is I only operate in SMASH and SABER territory and I use the rest of my broadcast strength as a reserve to set up, and subsequently destroy, networks in regions as I need them for quests and such.

So, I did a smart and left my game running without realising while I had dinner. Imagine my surprise that my base didn't completely collapse and was pretty self sufficient. I had 99 intel which I promptly burned in less than 10 seconds but I guess as long as you have a strong cover operation and aren't pissing off super agents, you do quite well for yourself.

I have networks in every region and have every super agent active so the game has just become trying to dodge them and leave dead zones while scheming where I can.

I also learned the value of having many incinerators handy so if there's a little free space, I use it to put down incinerators so that piling body bags doesn't spiral out of control.

If I was not playing Ivan I would probably take either IRIS or Jubei as my henchman. If your name is not Ivan the best thing you can have for a first henchman is someone capable of tanking agents while the minions with guns go to work.

So...IRIS basically. Or Jubei.

If your name IS Ivan you take Eli because literally nothing can survive the rocket launcher plus silver revolver firing squad thus far. I have dumpstered every single Super Agent this way. The Montana Gemelas island base is particularly ideal for Ivan thanks to its long narrow hallways at the entry way. John Steele never makes it far because in Gemelas he always speed boats to the beach below the mountain and enters through the long catwalk next to the helipad. Where Ivan and Eli are waiting.

Ditto for Wrecking Bola, Atomic Olga, and Blue Saint. Only Agent X and Symmetry are even kind of a problem and would you look at that my vault also lies at the end of a long narrow hallway ideal for shooting people just coming out of it.

Ask me about onklunk extraction.
Did anybody figure how to unequip weapons from guards? It seems kind of nutty that the only way I've found to do it is just kill a guard and train a new one if I want them to drop their club and pick up a gun.

Also is it better to just give everyone regular guns or a mix of stun and lethal?

I don't think there is a way. Even deconstructing the weapon rack doesn't make them drop it. I did a mix at first but then switched to all lethal. The idea being that usually capturing agents is a thing I do in low threat situations but when I want someone dead they need to Get Dead Now so just massing lethal guns seems to be a good idea. Plus I like the uniformity.

Even so it was a big turning point for me when I realized Zalika isn't just a crazy nerd, she's a crazy nerd with a laser cannon on her arm. As long as you have someone distracting the agents she can do some pretty good damage and being able to actually control her is a big help in setting up fights.

I managed to turn my super agent woes around by basically pulling out of ANVIL territory except for a single place that I just ignore if Symmetry is there. I made a big mistake in going wide originally. You don't need multiple level 1 places you just need a few levels 2's. Level 2 schemes make you so much money that you don't have to worry about only running a few of them. Once you actually understand how the super agents work in terms of triggering them to attack you they become enormously more manageable.

Airlock setups like that are a death trap for your minions. Provide better line of sight in order to leverage guns. Unironically, use less doors.
