I've been awake from 7.30 (when I could have slept in.) I didn't even need my alarm to wake me for the Horse Olympics/Gambler's Christmas. I just need to pick up supplies for the festival and I'll be sorted.

The One game parlay that bet MGM and others do is really awesome for betting favorites, just parlay the money line favorite with something else thats pretty likely to happen and unless the - is giant you tend to get +money very easily. Moneyline favorite +over star player points has done really well for me.

If you keep betting on the winners you'll be pretty happy.

Fan duel has a college basketball spread the love event going on and if you've never participated in it what happens is the more people bet on the favorite the more they move the spread to cover.

It's basically a free $45 (max bet is $50) as everyone does it and the spreads end up being an absolutely ridiculous number.

I'm saying that you can use this usually to turn - money odds into + money odds without adding a lot of risk.

it turns into + odds because it's a parlay of two events. both events occuring is still less likely than the odds they give you. it's not suddenly +ev because the odds are positive.

No winners for me yesterday at Cheltenham, not even a place. Unless I get some of what I placed back today I'll be spending Friday just watching the races.

up £40 today, mostly thanks to the freebie £10 no risk on Bob Olinger at 11/8 to open (Sky Bet were doing cash back up to £10 if your horse loses) and £2 EW on Sky Pirate at 16/1 on the 16.15, was a heartstopper though! Covered yesterday's losses with a 2 out of 7 win and 6 out of 7 placed Super Heinz parlay

Think I'm £33 up overall (fake edit +£32.07), pulled £30 out this evening from a £25 initial buy in for Cheltenham so playing with house money tomorrow

I've had exactly one place in 14 races, so I'm fair down. I think today might be better, but who knows. Either way I'm enjoying the festival, even if it is a bit of a strange one. The small fields are giving the favourites no competition (apart from my one on Chacun Pour Soi, which, of course, ran like a turkey.) The bigger feels in the handicaps are testing, but there's little of the back and forth in money as there has been in my previous Cheltenhams. My last two I more or less broke even, at this point I've more or less lost on everything.

My absolutely don't follow me not tips because I dont know what I'm doing for the day are

13.20 #6 Envoi Allen @ 8/15 - Obvious favourite so will definitely fall and end up in a Tesco cottage pie before the end of the day
13.55 #5 Imperial Alcazar @ 9/2 - Had an off day at Haydock last year but has placed in all other 6 past races
14.30 #1 Allaho @ 5/1 - Rachael Blackmore and Willie Mullins doing very well at Cheltenham this year, could be another winner with a top 2 now out of the running. #9 Min is the horse to beat but pulled up in his last race at Leapordstown with the jockey saying he jumped poorly
15.05 #9 Paisley Park @ 9/4 - Bookies' favourite and probably mine here, not much to prefer a longer shot
15.40 #2 Caribean Boy @ 9/1 - Total bun fight of a steeplechase, #14 The Shunter is heavily tipped but it's one of those anything can happen races and piling money into the bookies' choice here is in their favour rather than mine
16.15 #2 Rosey's Hollow @ 11/2 - Was an early favourite but odds have since lengthened to 7/1 so not sure if she had a bad night or if this is a great price, has won her last 2

I've done a 5p Lucky 63 and a £1 EW 6 fold parlay, also threw a couple of quid at #20 The Unit for the 15.40 at 40/1 as it's a bunfight as I said above and I like Tom Cannon as a jockey (who won me a fair amount at Plumpton a couple of years ago when I started betting on streaking jockeys rather than the ponies themselves)

Yeah as the hottest favourite of the week he fell at the 4th fence, thankfully both horse and jockey are ok. Rachael Blackmore has had a storming meet though, tomorrow's bets might just be a run on her mounts

Down today, up on the week still. Allaho was my saviour from a total gutterball

Yesterday meant I had some money in the account to bet today. I put in a clear number on Tuesday morning, enough to last me three days of losing every race, thinking I'd put in enough to cover Friday (today) if I had to. Yesterday's racing got me two wins and a place, so it meant not only did I have money for today, but I can either lump something on (foolishly) based on looking at a horse before the off, or keep it back for another day of racing. Whatever happens I haven't been cleared out, and the goal today (a big ask) is to get back to break even.

I'm not posting my bets because I do not want anyone following them. I am not the most sensible gambler, and my shortest odds today in a day where there's a fair few short prices is 13/2.

Doccykins

Glad to see you had a profitable day :)

Here's what I'm throwing away my money on today

13.20 #4 Quilixios @ 5/2 - Rachael Blackmore in the seat, needs to beat #7 Zanahiyr
13.55 #4 Edwardstone @ 18/1 - Long shot but Tom Cannon riding and Skybet paying 8 places at 1/5 makes it worth a flutter EW to me
14.30 #2 Alaphilippe @ 14/1 - Quite a few that could win this one so digging into the middle of the field for another EW here. #12 Stattler is the current bookies' fave
15.05 #2 A Plus Tard @ 7/2 - Lengthened a little overnight but this is the Gold Cup that commentators would like to see Rachael Blackmore win. Might be hedging with another pony in the back if I'm up on the day by here
15.40 #1 Billaway @ 11/4 - Willie Mullins trained favourite here, nothing much more exciting than that
16.15 #2 Elimay @ 5/6 - As above; There is a Mullins/Blackmore/Mare Chase combo in #4 Cabaret Queen @ 28/1 but she's not had the form of other winners this week so is very much a long shot

1 win, 5 placed (including a last minute EW on Leoncavello in the 16.50) and a bunch of badly thought out losses and I'm.... 66p up on the week lol. Look forward to watching some racing irl when the stands can reopen

I'm down 10 pts. But I had a good week and it was worth it (the beer certainly helped.) My worst Cheltenham ever but it was a joy to watch. As always is the case I just wonder if I can maintain my interest in horses without the excitement of this week (the answer is, "No," apart from the odd few days I get interested in.)

Edit: And when I say the beer certainly helped, my mother sat down next to me with a cup of tea at one point and she looked like the happiest motherfucker alive. If I could have grabbed a mug of tea from the fridge like a beer at that point I would have been converted. Horse racing and tea, a beautiful combination.

I won some decent money yesterday after waking up from a nap and my first thought was the Rockets 20 game losing streak would end against the Raptors.

I keep it safe most of the time but I never doubt an intuition bet like that.

Gambling is hard. I put a small wager on Ben Askren to win the stupid boxing match. After waking up the next day I checked the results and realized that I lost but for some reason on Betfair it said I had actually won?? Apparently I had accidentally offered to take the opposite side of the Askren bet i.e. effectually bet on Jake Paul to win. :downs: :toot:
