The owner of a local BBQ joint is trying to become the Amy's Baking Company of BBQ by insulting people who leave bad reviews. owning the "haters" by telling them to go to a different BBQ restaurant.

They removed those from Finland's cornetto equivalents a few years ago. Getting to the end of one of those "new and improved" ice cream cones for the first time was a real loving bummer.

On the one hand the chocolate is gross, on the other hand so is the puddle of warm ice cream you get otherwise.

https://twitter.com/readbytiffany/status/1378411866095935489 Viennettas haven't been available in the US for 20 years, but are coming back. The sensation is pretty much like eating bits of a Flake bar sandwiched between thin layers of ice cream. I'm meh on them; I think it has to have been a childhood thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iX511rplJY

Arsenic Lupin posted:https://twitter.com/readbytiffany/status/1378411866095935489 When I was a kid I thought they looked like very fancy desserts and was at the supermarket one day and told my mother that I wanted to get this really fancy dessert that I saw a commercial for. She was, of course, skeptical at the cost of paying a lot of money for a "fancy dessert" but when I brought it over from the frozen goods area, she seemed happy and laughed and said "Of Course". I don't particularly remember the taste of them all that well, but it is a fond memory.

They're still available here and overall not great, but decent. A bit fatty in flavour, but otherwise it's just vanilla ice cream with some chocolate layered into it.

As I remember them, (outer suburban Australia), Vienettas were all about "performative poshness". Much along the lines of Ferrero Rocher. I.E. something you could still get in the supermarket in Frankston, but that you could serve to guests, and pretend was fancy.

How weird. Here they're just a nice like dessert dish that you serve during a family meetup or something like that. Maybe as a special treat during the holidays. It's certainly not something that's considered especially classy, though.

I already posted about this in the GBS covid thread but have this scorching-hot take from a distant acquaintance. This section was preceded by a vigorous assertion that OP is NOT anti vaxx If anyone knows any Texas grocery stores that only allow fully vaccinated individuals to shop there please tell me, I'd go in a heartbeat e: comments pointed out that public schools do require vaccination and OP's response was essentially "well I'm not antivaxx buuuuuut they have some good ideas..."
