It’s got all the silly kinds of things you’d expect from Stephen King that he somehow makes not seem completely silly in the moment, like a part where Ewan McGregor makes a giant jewelry box sneak up on someone. And even though they’re not in it very much, the people playing the Shelly Duvall and Scatman Crothers are incredible at it. The ending just lays on the Shining references about 30% too thick.
