Which handheld control solution do you all like more: Split Pad Prod or the Satisfye grips? Or a third solution??

I own both and don't really see a point to the grip when I have the split pad pro. The buttons are better, there's two programmable back buttons, and it has turbo.

ALIVE ENOUGH TO DIE
I only have the Satisfye grip, but I'm quite pleased with it. It is extremely comfortable. I bought a bundle with a case from their website and it was nice to get a whole storage solution in one--nothing is really going to fit the asymmetrical profile of the Satisfye grip, and hunting down a case for the Hori Split would have been more work.

The Satisfye grip also just makes the Switch feel way more durable in portable mode. Only downside is it doesn't fit in the stock dock, but that doesn't bother me at all.

Yeah the Satisfye is pretty much perfect imo. I've never tried the split pad pro so I have no idea how they compare but the Satisfye made any discomfort or hand cramping nonexistent

FWIW the Satisfye grip makes my left hand cramp up and fall asleep after about 20 minutes. I find the asymmetrical design weird and unusable.

I ran into a controller conundrum myself recently. I plumped for the Pac-Man Hori Joycon and am happy with it; it fits my huge hands very well and looks fun and festive even though it was very dear. I also was about to buy this battery until I realised that it wouldn't fit on the system with the new Joycons as the Horis have these funny little shoulder blades that stick out the back.

No real reason for posting this, just disappointed.

No to all, however the Switch itself has a gyro/accelerometer that can be used in handheld mode without the joycons, additionally however not all games support the system gyro (Turok2 and Strife do, Doom2016 does not, for example).

The Wii version was good but online became stale kind of quick because certain non-main characters were way better than others. I think it was Toad where you could get the timing right to just flip over the goalie. Dry Bones charged shot always stunned the goalie so a quick shot if it the first was blocked would basically always go in.

I miss all the weird things they did with Mario in the 2000's. Getting sent to prison, getting a tribal tattoo, being added to DDR and some realistic basketball game, and just the weirdness of places like Rogueport and the Beanbean kingdom.

At least we finally got to see some new places and characters in Odyssey.

Did anyone else try Knockout City this weekend? It’s that EA published f2p dodgeball game they announced on a direct. It’s shockingly good. Not sure how the game will be on release but if the monetization is just cosmetic it’ll definitely be going into my regular online multiplayer rotation.

The core gameplay of it is so satisfying and it has a bunch of clever flourishes that open it up for fun/tricky plays. Being able to catch shots is a really great mechanic that you can’t get in a shooter with guns. Countering someone who otherwise had the drop on you feels great. And the dash move feels reminds me of the slide tackle in Mario soccer on the Wii. It really feels well designed all around. Really recommend checking it out if you like arcadey games with some depth. Feels like a game that could blow up like Rocket League if it catches on.

Not really sure what’s up with the 50s greaser/sci-fi aesthetic but whatever.

So this came up today, and for the life of me I can't find the answer: in the NES/SNES library games, how do you bring up the ZL+ZR system menu when you're using a single joycon?

I think you just press those two buttons that are in the rail, do you not? Maybe one of them in conjunction with whatever trigger button you have on your controller?

Doesn't it say in the menu/game?

Good for you. I'm not in health care but I am considered high-risk, elevated vulnerability and I've already had it once, followed by 5 months of constant pain. I finally was able to schedule my first dose for Wednesday.

We played that at uni and we loved it. I still remember the night, covered with sweat and in an overcrowded room gone breathless, myself and 3 mates teamed up to beat the Bowser cup. The cheering was so loud that we had a noise complaint.

The Wii version never did anything for me. I can't remember why, but I recall a major let-down after how much I enjoyed the first game.

I actually can’t find anything about the price now that I’m looking. The google preview for the official site says “try for free may 21st.”

I’d say it’s easily worth $20 based on the beta but that would probably kill it dead in terms of a player base. It looked to me like a fortnite style free to play setup. But yeah, really want to hammer home how solid it is. Not seeing much press or buzz around it but it’s worth a download if you like arcadey sports games.

Yeah, i genuinely can't even imagine going back to the default Switch joycont. The satisfye grip just feels so natural.

I'm a bit surprised Nintendo didn't just come out with their own JoyCon+'s which featured more ergonomic shapes.

My memory is going to GameStop with my college roommate and playing it on the kiosk for hours. I also never played the sequel but I’ve heard it wasn’t as good as the original. Then again, Nintendo seems to be making their Mario sports games more vanilla and less fun lately so maybe I’ll just stick with the good memories.

Well, it depends. It's all opinion, of course, but:

1) Mario Kart is consistently very successful, but I'm not much for racing games.

2) The original Strikers was wonderful fun, the next iteration was a letdown.

3) Ultra Smash tennis for Wii U was bloody awful but the Switch Mario Tennis was very good, I'm just not as into it because it wasn't quite realistic enough for me taste. That said, I would never argue that it's not the best Mario Tennis so far.

4) I didn't enjoy the N64 version, but Mario Golf was very good on GameCube and also very good on 3DS, it was just marginalised on the portable. I am uncharacteristically optimistic about the Switch version coming out, because I find that the golf games are just realistic enough for my taste.

5) The first baseball was, again in my opinion, not quite as realistic as i would have liked, but it was fun. The Wii sequel suffered from not advancing on the previous and also being a Wii game with lovely controls.

SL and SR act as the L and R buttons in the game. They're also Select and Start when +/- is held down, but I tried mashing them together both ways and nothing happened.

There's no explanation of how to trigger the menu while using a single joycon that I can find. Which is really weird, because I could've sworn I did it at least once somehow...

Edit: Figured it out. It's + and ZR or - and ZL. I forgot I turned off the "show controls" option, which displays it right around the bottom of the screen. Also, it only works for player 1, which would explain why mashing buttons when I was 2 didn't work
