Wait, that's it? We never found out their plot, or got any strips resolving things, just Lottie dunking them all in the carwash? What a really abrupt ending.

Yep, it's just lying there collecting dust. Batiuk likes to pretend he's this megafan of golden age comics, but it's just as shallow as Intelligent Life.

Again a very likpatous story

The idea of a person taking out an ad over a mundane thing like "I wonder what they have in other states" kind of makes me think of this.

I like this Moomin story much better than the wild west or French revolution-ish ones. I dunno if the writer got better, or if it's just that this one doesn't rely on a weird time travel gimmick (even though the time machine keeps getting mentioned). It just feels more Moominlike, I guess is the best way to put it.

I feel like a big part of it is all the family off doing their own thing again, while in the western it was just them on rails through a setting, and in rococo it was pretty much a solo adventure with Snorkmaiden.

Why would you get a knife, if you can open it without a problem anyway? (well, in this case there was a setback, but that was unexpected)

Is posting Steeple itself here an option or is it no longer available anywhere (and is it part of the Tackleford series or something entirely separate)? If not, posting the guide and/or notes would work for me

Allison put it best in his Steeple FAQ

John Allison posted:

Q. Is Steeple part of the Scary Go Round/Bobbins/Giant Days universe?

A. It is, in the sense that you are part of actor Willem Dafoe’s extended universe. The chances of your experiencing a “crossover” with Willem Dafoe are fleetingly small. I thought about starting this series with a crossover, and the more I thought about it, the more I didn’t want to do it.

Q. Wasn’t there another Steeple story that precedes this?

A. Steeple started as a miniseries from Dark Horse Comics.
