I doubt these are in publication since it's such a generic thing, but they were Hidden Object books but with realistic drawings of nature scenes. I can't remember any single one title but a single book would usually focus on a biome, The Taiga, Deep Sea, Tropical Sea, The Jungle, etc. And you'd have to find x of different animal species. I remember random books/pages, but there was an "Around the Garden" which did (British) Garden variety critters, Tide Pools, and other urban environments, there was Canadian Taiga for sure, a Caribbean pirate wreck, coral seas, just tons really.

I feel they were from Scholastic since it was during those book sales in school that I could pick them up, but I'm not sure.

I would spend the long summer days in the 90's going through these alone or with a friend. Any idea what the series is called or if the publication is still around, or if something similar exists?

I just found a youtube channel all about white whales/lost media. Here's a video about some of the most famous pieces of lost media which were sought after by large numbers of people for years and years - some of them eventually got discovered, some of them had been stalled during production and were never completed, and some turned out to be hoaxes

Really enjoyed this thanks It blows my mind how stuff like Seasame Street and Dr Who can still have lost episodes. I suppose it makes sense with Dr Who being from a time well before video recorders but it makes me wonder how much recent 'lost' media is knocking around on a VHS tape in someone's loft/basement.

I don't know if it's already come up in this thread but there's a great episode of the podcast Reply All about a lost song that's a great listen: https://gimletmedia.com/shows/reply-all/o2h8bx

The video you posted also reminded me of another one of my personal white whales. It was a children's book that terrified me when I was a kid. It was a child visiting his grandparents and having nightmares about "Midnight horses" coming to take him away.
The art style was very similar to this:

Lost media, you say? I don't know if any of you realize this but I've been looking for episodes of the television show Old Friends, New Friends for over a year now. There seem to be only two that are in any way digitized or available. I will, no foolies, pay someone who can find me even one more episode. I know it's impossible but who better to ask than goons, right?

It's episode 4031, from season 4, 10/1/96. It appears to be region-blocked in every country. Any communities out there trading old seasons of Ricki Lake?

It really makes no sense how "Old Friends, New Friends" is so inaccessible considering how amazing it is, and how relatively recent and high-profile it once was. A scene from late 90s/early 00s TBS Superstation or other daytime movie TV.

A guy is in his tighty whities on a (hotel?) bed, flexing his butt in weird ways to make the woman with him laugh.

I think he says, "And here's the cockeyed!"

*FLEX*

Out of nowhere, he smacks the woman with a 2x4 board and says, "Why'd you make me do it?"

This was jarring to see, and I was too young to understand what was going on. Please, white whale thread, I'd like to understand.

I have this song I heard a few years ago stuck in my head - "All the Wrong Parties" by Jejune - and it's apparently been entirely scrubbed off of the Internet. I'd really like to find the track again, and if possible also figure out what the actual gently caress happened to it. It won't even come up in searches in Apple Music anymore, and when I try to play the version saved to my library it gives me an error about it being unavailable.

It seems to be on Spotify? https://open.spotify.com/album/0WsXzVt8NnWseaVZtgaQdZ
(I dont have account so I cant log in to see if it actually works?)

Also KKBox (Asian streaming thing), where you can hear a preview: https://www.kkbox.com/tw/en/album/fVa82JLEozRT90F2z48R009H-index.html

But yeah it does seem weirdly gone (lots of search results linking to Amazon music are broken, other streaming sites 404, etc.)
I wonder if they changed labels or something and haven't been set back up officially yet.

Been there, done that. That's where I first heard about the two episodes that are available via inter-library loan as the earlier goon was talking about. Problem is that no one can get them so in essence even those two are gone too. The only real hope I can think of is if the estate releases the originals. I keep trying here though since I know there are a lot of goons with weird and often fortuitous connections.

So this is interesting. The band in question is https://www.facebook.com/jejuneband (versus the older emo band, or an Irish five-piece rock band, or so on). Their official website, https://www.jejune.eu/, says that their first single was released in November 2020 and they seem to have signed up with a record label earlier in the year. It's not hard to find linked references to earlier stuff, various facebook shares or e.g. https://blogg.deichman.no/musikk/2019/12/17/ferske-spor-uke-51-2019/. I'm guessing it's an intentional choice to wipe all their pre-label stuff - maybe re-recording them? But they have plenty of ways to get in touch, maybe they'd still be happy to share with a fan.

(I didn't have any luck just finding the actual song - their page hadn't even been copied by the Wayback Machine before, so if nothing else you've helped preserve them.)

God help me, I'm looking for a Livejournal icon, or at least the GIF it was made from. Given the time frame it must be around fifteen years old, so it was probably made between 2003 and 2009.

A real person - a pale-skinned guy with short brownish hair, wearing a blue shirt and jeans - goes running across a blank white background from left to right, waving his hands above his head in an absolute full-out panic run. It loops just like that: runs onscreen from the left, runs offscreen to the right, repeat. There's no text or anything, just the guy freaking out and running. I'm pretty sure it's not fandom-related, but I couldn't tell you for sure.

There was a show in the UK on E4 around 2003/2004ish named "Little Friends".

It was a hidden camera show similar to Trigger Happy TV, but the "actors" were all children (or very young looking adults).

I've never been able to find any clips from it since it aired. It used to be that I couldn't even find confirmation of its existence but over the years a handful of reviews or references have popped up in my google searches but that's all.

It's probably nowhere near as funny as I found it back then but I'd still love to find a clip of it.

Here's a movie I haven't been able to find...

It's from what I'm pretty sure is around the 2000 - 2006 time frame. (There's a chance it might actually be from late 90's... I remember Internet references in the film. I also remember being kind of surprised because I thought the film looked older than that, at the time I watched it.)

It's low budget and independent. I feel fairly certain I watched it on IFC from around that time. (But I could be mis-remembering that; it might have been something like Showtime, Cinemax, etc.)

It's a sci-fi romantic / alien love story sort of thing. The "alien" is just a dude that looks kind of like a dweeb, wearing what I remember looked like some kind of jump suit. He had a kind of autistic kind of vibe... difficulty showing emotions, etc. I remember he had what looked like a small clear plastic half sphere kind of "shield" on his hand, and it turned out he was able to deflect bullets with it.

He tells people he is an alien warrior (like a thrall from that one Star Trek OST episode), and people just kind of take him as being mental. But it's basically true. He ends up meeting girl and falling in love, etc.

I remember there were multiple Star Trek references. (I remember one character says the "brain and brain" line from Spock's Brain).

I remember looking the film up on IMDB after I watched it, but now I've completely forgotten the name and can't find it via Internet searching.
