Is there, like, one single loving person in Hollywood that gives "zombie" acting lessons. I don't know what it is about the generic "arms back, snappy head movement" acting that just irks the poo poo out of me but god do I hate it. It's like some 13 year old's version of what it means to act menacing and badass and it's just so cringey.

Some movies do hire movement coaches, but it's probably a limited pool of people that all work together and have trained under each other, so you're going to be getting some similarities.Terry Notary's a big one, and he's basically a less famous (or less egotistic) Andy Serkis with the amount of stuff he's done (though I don't think he's done any zombie movies).

The 1st Assistant Director usually directs extras and crowds (productions tend to keep the Director away from crowds and background actors, since sometimes people will use interaction with the director to get a pay bump), so some of the generic movement could come from a 1st AD who's just trying to get the shot put together on time and just tells them to "act like zombies" and they just do what they've seen before.

For VFX zombies, crowds are often mocapped - usually just by animators in a mocap suit who are building a performance library based on existing zombie reference or trying to match what the people on-set were doing, so it all tends to blend together.

No, I know all that... I'm a VFX guy that has actually 1st AD'd some feature work!

Mostly I'm just being a curmudgeon for curmudgeon-ess sake, but my main beef was with that main zombie girl thing (that starts out of focus in the trailer). Not the background.

It's just like nobody can expand their idea of what a zombie move should be like.

Anyway they all suck and it completely just takes me out of my zombie movie.

I’d rather have the herky jerky zombies than the early aughts solution of shaking your face at the camera then have the editor put 8 cross dissolves over it.

Well the REAL winning move is to stop making zombie movies, but Hollywood - so far - has yet to answer any of my letters.

I’m assuming based on her general look in the trailer that she’ll be the classic “heroically blows themselves up to save everyone else” character

You'd have to get Warner Bros and Disney to sign off on a "pornographic" film of Alice from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Dorothy from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and Wendy from Peter Pan. Could possibly happen.

And you'd need Alan Moore involved or else it will be poo poo. Good luck.

Come for the art, stay for the very disturbing and sad incest? (I own a 1st addition of the comic. It's very... unusual). is Moore still with the artist?

This may be overthinking it, but her character was originally being played by Chris D'Elia. I'm not sure he'd be cast for someone playing that role.

I may be bringing my own personal biases to this thought process. But you cast him to be, "Annoying prick", not "Sacrificial hero." I don't know, maybe as a surprise.

Sorry for circling back to the zombie film, but Tig was entirely green-screened into the movie. They couldn't do traditional reshoots because of the pandemic, so they just fired up the chromakey.
