Morgana: Alright, everyone thinks you're gone, so keep a low profile.

*proceeds to sneak into school multiple times, enjoy some music at the jazz club, play billiards several times with the whole group, and even have a meeting with the president of Okumura Foods*

Is there a way to reliably transfer the severe mass damage spells in P5R?

For example I want to transfer Blazing Hell from Surt to Trumpeter in the hopes of having the latter hold as many of the severe-level mass spells as possible, but choosing to strengthen Trumpeter with Surt keeps transferring over one of the other 7 skills Surt has, despite an hour of savescumming. :negative:

The only ways to reliably get a skill from one Persona to another is through fusion or skill cards, unfortunately. You might be able to do a crazy fusion chain to get a bunch of great spells on Trumpeter but that's the only way to really guarantee it.

After that interaction with Akechi at Rank 8, the plot twist was pretty much expected. The Reverse Uno on Akechi was cool though.

Honestly I seriously doubt that it was ever really meant to be a "twist" in the sense that it was a surprise. If anything the twist was that the Phantom Theives knew he was a traitor the whole time and were ready to reverse-backstab him

Hellioning

And even that's barely a twist.

How strange. The two scenes that Joker conveniently cannot remember are both related to Akechi. I wonder what the game is trying to hide from us.

Even if that part's sorta clumsily executed, I still like it a lot because it's when the game is at its most "heist movie." Big casino heist where one of the group is a traitor and sets them up, but it turns out it was all an act and the heroes were planning for this the whole time! Classic poo poo right there.

I didn't even realise "Akechi is the traitor" was meant to be a twist. I mean the whole thing is pretty obviously a heist. The moment I found to be the twist was when Akechi shoots Joker in the head. And working out where that went.

I'm pretty sure the initial twist with the the end of the 6th Palace worked on my friend, because he actually played the game at a regular, sedate pace - 2 to 3 hours a night over several weeks. I happened to be watching when he got to the cutscene introducing the 6th Palace, and his comment was "Wait. WAIT. That's the casino from the beginning of the game. I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS NOW." In other words, he completely forgot about Akechi and pancakes, because it had been over a RL week since he played through that bit.

This is kinda like what happened to me but instead of forgetting Akechi hearing Morgana, I forgot the mention of a traitor in the opening. I knew Akechi was a traitor because duh but I had completely forgot that the game basically tells you that and I thought it was just me being smarter than the game.

And then the whole Ocean’s Eleven-rear end heist explanation happened and I was in heaven. That is absolutely my poo poo.

It feels like it's supposed to be a twist because they kinda half-hearted imply "oooh what if it's haru" or something.

It'd just be nice if she had like, any relevance at all after the second palace.

I hear strikers is better about that though.

You could say the same about P4. Outside of Social Links, Chie/Yukiko become mainly background characters after the castle is completed. Yosuke still has the pivotal kill or don't kill scene later on the game so he remains plot-relevant later on.

Chie is surprisingly good at pointing out things nobody thinks of at times because her brain runs on simple. Sometimes she points out something that nobody even considers and it carries the conversation forward. It actually carries into her P4A story, which was a pleasant surprise.

It doesn't happen a lot, but it's more than what anybody not named Yosuke or Naoto does.

I like her getting to be Futaba’s big sis after that palace. The game doesn’t delve a whole lot into how lonely she was with parents who are gone a lot, no other family and no friends outside of Shiho so her being really excited to help Futaba is nice.

Turn the difficulty to merciless, It'll make weakness get hit for three times damage, also let them know the fight is a test of your baton passing skills. And not to forget damage items

Yeah, counter-intuitively, that boss is significantly easier on Merciless because of the way it amps up weakness damage.

The boss fight in question is all about baton passes and sweeps. [spoiler]All the bots are vulnerable to either Psy, Wind, or electric and nuclear. So you need Haru, Morgana, and either Ryuji or Makoto - and Joker needs personas with those elements. You also want Dekaja and Dekunda in your party due to buffs/debuffs. And if you can you want accessories for the low level attack spells because they'll enable full sweeps rather than just two three person baton passes every round. Use single target elemental damage to build up the baton passes and get extra attacks in until everyone's down and then go full power. Also guard at the right times - and blast out the self destruct bots first.[/spoiler[

Items helped me do it. the third set of robots is the one that I always struggled with, so I used items that greatly increased the damage of the next magic attack and gave those to Haru and Joker, then made a full Baton Pass chain starting with the other two party members (I used Ryuji and Morgana), then Joker and Haru both using Mapsio to hit for massive damage. You might have to start using a few attacks to hit everyone so you know that they’ll all die at the same time, and you still have to get kinda lucky that nothing disrupts this plan, but that’s the hardest part if you’re properly leveled because the big robot at the end is really just a test of how hard you can get hit and keep kicking.

But don’t forget to guard against charged attacks. I did that on my second try after passing the hardest part and I was furious at myself, it took like 10 more tries to finally pass.

Just finished Shido's Palace. Now I understand how off-putting the post-fight scene with Ryuji and the girls was. Bro completely redeemed himself after the Okumura Palace shitfest.

The cutscene buildup to the boss fight was epic, and I wanted to really rip this boss a new one, so I ended up spamming his rear end to death with Morning Star:

I literally built that right before heading into the Palace for the last time, and been itching to build this for days but was held up by Metatron needing Rank 10 Justice to be fused. Good thing the Akechi boss fight happened beforehand.

Funny you say that, because I was screwing around with builds and just created this thing:

Yep, no active spells. this guy exists literally to start battles, basically cast the equivalent of Brave Step and a 5-turn Heat Riser on the whole party, then gently caress off until the next battle.

Finally got to the final final dungeon in P4G. this is the “hidden” dungeon in March, after rescuing Marie in Hollow Forrest A hell of a ride so far. While P4 doesn’t reach the highs of Persona 5R (few games can) I also feel like it was more consistent, quality wise.

I’ll write up my thoughts in a bigger effort post once I clear the final dungeon and see the credits roll.

I thought building something like that was normal? There's even a treasure demon to encourage it. Also there's an option in the menu so that your starting Persona remains your active one regardless of who you ended the fight as rather than your active remaining the fight ender.
