I drank cough syrup and watched movies and wrestling every weekend for about two and half years straight. I could recite to you the entire script of Ravenous probably. Sometimes I would forget to have a movie playing before the trip came up and I’d sit staring at my shelf of DVDs while they talked to me. Don’t do drugs, kids. Tripping while you watch a good wrestling match is loving crazy. There was some Eddie Edwards/Roderick Strong match from a New York ROH show that I’m still partially convinced I was there for even though I’ve never been to New York. I have re-watched a lot of things in sobriety to “reclaim” them but one thing I probably won’t touch is S1 of Dexter, the entirety of which I watched on acid in one very long night. That’s a good season of television. Shame about where it ended up.

I have to ask, how did this turn out for you? The first time I took mushrooms my roommate and I watched The Song Remains the Same (the Led Zeppelin film). He got worried because I wasn't reacting to the movie but that was because I was absolutely enthralled by the combination of music and visuals. That was pretty much me for most of college - smoke/take/drop something, watch a concert film.

When I saw Matrix Revolutions I was sitting in the upper balcony of the Pertania movie theater in New Orleans and these guys were smoking weed behind me. I'm convinced I like that movie as much as I did because of a great contact high. Also when I smoked weed with my dad on Christmas one year, I sat in the dark listening to Queens of the Stone Age and bought a keyboard. I was able to learn how to play When the Saints Come Marching In.

Ravenous, Super Troopers, Beerfest, and Rescue Dawn were all movies I’d just put on at the end of a trip or binge; I was very much a creature of habit.
