Sleep, rest, do your best.
This interpretation of Buddha is so wild, I hope we get to see Jesus at some point and see that framing.

Lol, puberty is rough.

I wonder how this is going to end actually. This doesn't feel like it will end with a big slugfest but with Zerofuku and Buddha coming to terms with eachother somehow.

I feel sad for Zerofuku. :(

Also we've established one of the themes of this fight Selfishness vs Altruism. So let's see if Buddha throws in the towel because of his whims or if he can carry himself to give humanity another win.

Trying to decide if this Buddha is fully in the "skillful means" zone, appearing as needed to reduce suffering, even if (and/or especially if) it runs counter to predisposed visions of how he should be. Or if he's just a glorious, tell-it-like-it-is jerk with a heart of gold. Either way I love it

I really like this new take on the fighters' backstories. This is the first time we've had fighters who knew each other before Ragnarok...well, one fighter who knew the other, anyway.

Buddha almost certainly remembers Zerofuku, even if he's not letting it on; he made the exact same comment to Ebisu back in chapter 34 that he did regarding Zero in this chapter's flashback ("Puberty's rough, huh?"). That doesn't seem like a coincidence.

I was instinctively avoiding anything with 'slave' in the title but if it's the guy it at least won't be too creepy with it... I hope.

it's still a fetish manga, except the fetish is femdom instead of literal slavery. so, kind of skeevy but not outright grotesque like the slave harem poo poo.

It’s a shame since the artist can draw really good actions scenes(they did Akame ga Kill) but are held back by the ecchi scenes every few chapters.

My offering to this thread is a manhua with some of the best world-building I've encountered! The art is also very unique. I haven't read many Chinese comics and this one was pretty amazing to me. Random trivia from one of the author's notes - pretty sure he lives in Wuhan.

Heresy is a dark wuxia-type story about Mo Lianjian, disciple of a sect of immortal sorcerers and exorcists, and the trials he faces in pursuit of self-cultivation to find his path.

I have another recommendation that I caught up with recently and wanted to post here, as I think it's more oriented towards seinen readers than shonen, but I think the latter is its official demographic so I'll post it in that thread.

drat caught up only to see the indefinite hiatus. I wish there were more cultivation comics with art this interesting, the only other one I kinda liked is Renegade Immortal which people mention pretty often in the webnovel thread too, but the art in the manhua isn't so great.

Yeah, the 'slave' stuff is pure consensual BDSM roleplay that lets the slave in question (actually more of a volunteer intern) be a superhero and hang out with hot girls. It's just a fairly harmless porny action fantasy rather than anything seriously reprehensible.

Still kind of weird for Grouchio to so enthusiastically recommend it to the thread, though, but Grouchio having zero filter is hardly news.

Yeah that and the total level of planning an organization for like 17 year olds. It's been pretty fun to read but it really takes a lot to suspend disbelief that these are high schoolers

IIRC, isn't Out a period piece? Delinquent gangs in Japan were genuinely pretty seriously hardcore a couple of decades back.

Yeah, that was the peak of the delinquent era. There's some obvious stylistic exaggeration in Out, but youth gangs really were large, well-organised, and insanely brutal back then, and the police really didn't give a poo poo (as evidenced by how hard and fast the gangs folded once the police did start giving a poo poo in the 00s).

I did a re-read of this current competition and Iori is a monster in his own right. The introduction of this rival B-boy and the house genre has been good for Kabo especially since the other guy isn't just some poser but a kid so dedicated to break dancing he broke his loving face which is pushing Kabo to really find his own expression through dance. Well Buddhism seems to be real and Buddha’s in the same group as Jesus so nothing about that really seems to disprove Christianity.

Nah, you can see the same depiction of the monotheistic God in Adam's intro doing the 'Creation of Adam' pose sitting in the stands during one of the earlier chapters.

But if Buddhism is real, then that still kind of invalidates Christianity even if Jesus and the Christian god also exist, because the central tenet of Christianity is that the Christian god is the only true God.

Buddha is also considered one of "the gods" in this framing, remember how he had to intentionally change to humanity's side? where the other three are clearly on humanity's side from the get-go here, which definitely implies something about Jesus (and Confucius for that matter).

A lot of old religions were Henotheistic (all gods are real but my gods are best/can beat up your gods) or straight polytheistic, and you would choose who to pledge your worship to or worship as part of ritual depending on the circumstance.

For many religions, especially in their historical context, it may not be contradictory, but it definitely is for monotheist religions. There was an awful lot of syncretism going on back in the day.
