I forget the name of it but Grey Hunter did one fantastic campaign, ending in a non-paradox Distant Worlds game, which contains one of the greatest LP moments ever.

I think that was 2 separate LPs; Ghana was the one that went CK2->Distant Worlds (eventually) but the slight ... mishap was in a solo-DW LP (I vaguely remember Grey was the green-skinned not-Asari race in that one).

Vicky 2 is great, mostly because I didn't even realise until I converted to Hoi4 that my Mexican Alaska (what?) had over 2.4 million people living in it 1936. For context modern day alaska has a population around 700k.

It still pains me that the actual short story elements are so good while the gameplay is just so, so bad. Like, I would love if all the small relic, artifact, and creepy space mystery stuff was its own fleshed out game without the 4x poo poo.

Crete was amazing and terrifying. I'm glad I read it when it was happening, but I'm not sure I can handle revisiting it. The idea of a poison pill party actively trying to ruin everything seems more relevant now than ever, but what got really weird was how eventually they seemed to form a functional equilibrium with the rest of the parties.

It's been HPM for a while, and the modders are still releasing updates with a surprising amount of regularity. There's also HFM, but the railroading is pretty extreme in that mod.
