Very cool. Are you using something like an xpan to get that aspect or a nifty technique?

Ansco Pix Panorama 35mm. You can get them unopened for 10-15 bucks

Thanks, that's a lot of fun for the price.

Everything is just so cinematic when panoramic, I keep expecting someone to emerge from the trees in this shot.

I think it's because they're so wide you can't take the whole image in and actually have to study each segment individually.

With a 1:1 or 4:3 or whatever your eyes still wander around the frame taking stuff in but with ultra wide it's ramped up big time. Stuff feels massive.

Considering it was taken in Ocala National Forest in FL it’d likely be someone protecting their meth camp and that would be very bad :v:

I don't think it's out of focus, it's just a softness caused by heat haze/the amount of atmosphere at that distance.

It's 600mm on an APS-C so it's just stretching the camera's abilities, and if I had to guess about a 1/3 of a mile away so as Finger Prince said atmospherics probably played a role.

I'm reading through a landscape photography book and I have a question - If my camera doesn't show any signs of noise at, say, 2000ISO, and I can handhold a low light landscape shot at 2000 ISO, are there any advantages to using a lower ISO with a tripod?

Yes, higher ISOs have less dynamic range, you can look for your body here and see how it'll effect your images: https://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/PDR.htm

Woah. I lose over half the dynamic range at higher ISOs. Today I learned, thanks!
