Nice to be able to experience this game with 8 second queues instead of 8 minutes. You veterans have any loadout advice for newbies being overwhelmed with unlock spam? like "always take A or B on this titan or gun, C and D don't do enough and if you pick E you are straight trolling"

Most things in the game are good at murder when used as intended. I am partial to the lightning ball gun for shooting at bad players in Titans when I am on foot, because I don't have to expose myself after I pull the trigger and only for a second when I do. It does work.

R 97 is like the car but fast, v good I think the only guns I've never really found a good use for are the cold war (I'm sure there are good ways to use it but it goes over my head) and the volt Finally used monarch, seems very hard to kill and does a ton of damage

Was thinking along the lines of which of the 5 mods unique to each titan is the best to load up from a veterans perspective, is there a clear winner or any newbie traps to avoid.

Today was fun https://giant.gfycat.com/PerfumedPaleAcornbarnacle.mp4 https://giant.gfycat.com/AchingWarmIbex.mp4 Pretty sure I've mentioned it but I figured out if you're going 1 v 1 against a Tone as an Ion if you just let Tone hit you with it's 40mm while conserving your energy using the regular splitter rifle shot and as soon as you see the locked on warning throw up your vortex and catch the missile barrage and throw it back at them, either knocking down their wall or hitting them. The counterplay to this as a Tone main is to get your lock and let it sit instead of giev misl immediately.

Had a lot of fun last night, played a mix of PvP and also some frontier defense - playing Scorch is really fun when you're melting the enemies in huge pools of fire.

I gravitate to the options that give me more aoe or splash damage like the upgraded cluster missiles on north star, the ricochet bullets on ronin, the 5 way splitter on ion. I also like the extra slash on ronin though, depends whether I wanna be more dangerous to other titans or to pilots. I always use the upgraded fire sheild on scorch cause it fucks people up so fast but it may not actually be a good idea cause you're already range limited with scorch and the things that give your projectiles more oomph would probably be smarter. Monarch I'm still using the default stuff cause I haven't unlocked it all yet but I am excited to use the thing that gives your teammates shields cause I like doing support stuff weirdly a lot in this game. Legion and tone idk I never use them

It would probably be free money/advertising/good for player numbers to keep TF|2 alive if they made it free to play the week before every apex season and people are hyped for the major patch changes but don't want to keep doing apex a week before it's changed.

The last couple games of Titanfall 2 i played was just vets making GBS threads on people and my team being perpetually 2 players down while it desperately struggled to keep us topped up with a full team, so I just turned the game off and went back to playing literally anything else. I feel like I understand why this game never keeps new players.

You kinda have to expect this going into a 5 year old game where some of those players have been running the same maps dozens of times every week in those 5 years that you are going to get styled on a bit, but that hopefully you'll learn how to stay alive a few seconds longer each time or aim the gun better while moving slightly faster then last time, or not running into enemy territory and finding your titan surrounded by 6 players. One tip I wish I found out earlier is that the mini map will color-code the direction of the enemy spawn location, knowing that can help not getting surrounded.

To be honest I've never felt like any of the times I've come back to Titanfall that I was up against anyone particularly tough, but modern shooters have largely moved on from hitscan weapons so going back can really throw you, in particular in comparison to Apex which also has way tighter restrictions on hit detection

I really liked playing this during the free weekend especially as an apex vet. Using the grapple class made me a lot better at pathfinder too. Is there a good video guide to the movement tech in this game though? Ive got the grapple hook and wall running down pretty good but Ive seen people b-hopping around in kill cams and I want to know how to do that.

Dunking on a dude with a Hail Mary mortar round that hangs for 3 seconds will always be more satisfying than clicking heads, to me.

hitting someone with a bullet drop weapon when you're both going mach 6 in opposite directions is the funniest thing you can do in any video game and i stand by that I'm really trying to get used to monarch but I feel like the shield steal thing is kinda terrible at first, i can barely get to my first core upgrade without being at like 20% health

If we're being brutally honest this game has some really horse poo poo balancing that exacerbates those issues, at this point I doubt I'll ever touch the MP again besides Frontier Defense* cause playing the regular MP just leads to me getting mad and I mean the kind of mad that is probably bad for one's own health *which is an imperfect solution cause honestly FD has some REALLY bad balancing issues of it's own as a Horde Mode

Monarch is very powerful. -Run the battery as your boost so you can start every drop with extra life and meter. -you can’t tank because you don’t have a block- you need to be teaming up with allies when you can and pinging or doing hit n run (take advantage of rearm and reload) when you can’t. -lean on your energy siphon to keep you alive for longer. It’s also useful for slowing an enemy so you can close in for an execution. -Always be on the look out for opportunities to execute a titan- stealing their battery extends your life and boosts your meter -for upgrades I run: level 1 energy transfer when I’m playing with friends, arc rounds when I’m not; level 2 faster rearm and reload (lets me use the shield shot more rapidly); level 3 XO accelerator seriously buffs your rifle. Honestly none of the picks are bad, you can adapt them to your play style (for example, you can combine the maelstrom upgrade with the double smoke kit option if you’re a close in fighter) Monarch is my second most played after scorch and I think she is very powerful if you can survive to get enough upgrades
