Basically all the ground floor retail around my office is permanently out of business.

my company went from "We're embracing the New Normal, flexibility for all!" to "please come back five days a week" real quick. I could absolutely be 100% WFH, boss said we need you in more often than not, I said how about 50% and he was like "ehh sure i guess". So now i'm WHF 5/10 in a fortnight. So that's a win?

The booster shot is required both to max out the effectiveness and also provide a few months of protection due to stimulating the production Killer T/memory B cells.

The good news is according to Israeli studies the first shot does provide some level of protection (80-85% after two weeks).

Remember even the first shot will get your body to create the spike protein which will lead to immune system response.

It's been a cycle in the suburban school districts for nine months now, a school opens up and two weeks later it goes back to remote learning because of coronavirus cases. good lord.

Can’t learn from other school districts either. No. Clearly we are BETTER AND SAFER than all these other schools.

Yeah I was WFH for like six months and it owned. But then the only person who does the same job got fired and some stuff has to be done in person so I had to come back. :(

I've been able to work from home for a decade now, I figure when things are back to "normal" (lol) I'll go into the office a few days a week just to have some separation between my home life and my work life.

Working from home has been an absolutely huge quality of life improvement and I am glad my company is moving to a hybrid model in the future, and have stated that there won't ever be 100% of employees in the office again. I'm fortunate in that I'm able to dedicate a room in our home to be an office, which makes all the difference. Working on a laptop sitting on the couch or something would have driven me insane fairly quickly. Sometimes it can be hard to unplug but I'll take that in exchange for not sitting in I95 traffic anymore. gently caress the office forever. gently caress office culture.

Today is the day that everyone got forced back into the office. Today is also the day that they decided would be good to begin remodeling two of the bathrooms. SO on top of the increased number of people in the building, there are a number of contractors in the building, and we will have reduced bathroom capacity for the next two weeks.

I mean really why not just extend work from home for a couple weeks to assuage the already strained bathroom capacity. Oh and a new batch of interns just came around.

Also, I've heard multiple people just chatting about how great it is to be back because it sucks when their spouses and children have work from home days too.

Go watch the documentary "The Brainwashing of my Father" and ignore the succlib poo poo, the takeaway is that long amounts of time spent alone in your car in the modern era makes for perfect circumstances for propagandizing.

Though having said that, there's nothing wrong with liking your co-workers and working with people you'd also hang out with outside of work is a lot less miserable than the alternative.

I hate office culture and have no desire to work 40 hours/week in an office again if I can avoid it but I do look forward to eventually going back 1-2 days/week because I haven't actually met most of my coworkers since I switched departments last fall and while there's no need for people to be in the office for a lot of stuff I do think that there's also stuff that we spend weeks going back and forth on emails/chats with that could be solved much easier by spending some time together in an office or conference room and going hybrid will let people figure out what works best for their job that week.

Things I liked about WFH:
- I could hit the snooze button more than once
- I could take a leisurely shower
- I could take my time to eat breakfast, and clean up after it
- I didn't have to drive 30 minutes to work
- I didn't have to drive 30 minutes from work
- I didn't need to wear my respirator for 8 hours.
- I could make a good lunch
- I could use my lunch hour to get some local errands done
- I could wear my PJs all day long
- I could do laundry
- I could do the dishes
- I could change my sheets
- I didn't need to share the bathroom with other people
- I didn't have to worry about maskless idiots
- I could watch cartoons for the first part of my day

Things I did not like about WFH:
- About once a week my roommate would stay up all night ruminating on something that frustrated her, so then she'd spend the day frustrating me about it.
