Disney never lets you stack discounts but if your stay begins during a promo they let you have it for the entire stay even if the cut off falls during your stay. So you could get the deal that applies to the time frame before and use it for the whole stay or you can break it up to use both. It really depends on the parameters of the discount. Some have a minimum stay requirement.

See that's what I thought too. But at Pop when I look at the price breakdown, if I start a trip say on July 10th (or earlier), all the nights July 11th or later are full price. I booked it right when the April-July discount came out back in January (?) and so figured the post July 11th days would go down once the rest of July was discounted, but that's not been the case today. Ugh.

Trying to decide if it's worth the hassle to possibly switch rooms after the first night since already have super cheap flights booked so don't want to change dates. We're doing two rooms, so the savings would be worth it, but it's annoying to jump through the hoops.

You could ask them at check in if you can stay in the same rooms. They won't guarantee it, but with the resorts still at limited capacity, there's a good chance you might not have to move.

Zombina says "si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes!"
So we just got back this week after our trip - thanks everyone for the advice with kids. Strollers, snacks, timing, etc. all worked out great. A few observations/thoughts:

We got in on Sunday and left Friday. We were very happy with this timing as I think we missed a ton of people who stayed over the weekend for some cheerleading/dance competitions. We decided not to rent a car, despite the debate before, and were very happy for it. It was a huge mistake day one on Sunday - as we couldn't get an uber carseat (we brought a foldable/full body booster with us, but wanted to rent the second). Every other day it would have been a waste. The Swan buses were actually decent, and for Magic Kingdom day we just walked over to Yacht Club and took theirs.

We stayed at the Marriott Swan on points. We love this area of the parks, since we can walk to Epcot/Hollywood Studios, and it's centrally located versus the other areas. We lucked out and actually got an upgrade - I'm sure due to extra capacity with no conventions - and got a king suite with pullout + balacony + view. I think the Swan is actually a good hotel, if you don't care about Disney theming. My biggest complaint was about masks here. This was the only place on property that people were not anal about masks - even had people on elevators not wearing and telling my family and I to hop on with them. Just not comfortable. That said, the employees are great and the accommodations work, especially on points.

We did Magic Kingdom Monday, Animal Kingdom + Epcot Tuesday, and Hollywood Studios, MK, and Epcot Thursday. We took a rest/pool day on Wednesday, and resort hopped for breakfast and dinner. I'm actually very happy we didn't have fast passes to deal with, at least with kids. I've been recently with just my wife and we could abuse the system, but it's not realistic with kids. The wait times were all incredibly bearable, and comically inflated in the mornings. Things that would say 45 minutes would be 15 or less. Towards the afternoon - they got more "real." The worst waits we had were Splash Mountain and Test Track, both an hour, and the later because of a breakdown. Everything else was either walk ons, or 20 minute waits. With rider swap, since there was no fast pass, it was even faster for the second party to go through.

All I'll add is - Rise is awesome and getting boarding group 4 was pretty amazing. I honestly can't tell if I liked it more than Mickey and Minnie's railway though. Both are amazing, technological rides/experiences. I felt safe overall between how anal Disney was about masks + being vaccinated. People were pretty good about social distancing, even in queues, but there were always a party or two sometimes that would ride up and not pay attention to floor markers. I'm glad my kids had never been before, so they had no expectations for characters meets, fireworks, etc. We did fit in a Garden Grill the last day though, which was a huge hit. The food wasn't some mind blowing/new experience, but it was probably the freshest and best made on property we had. I'd definitely do that again over the other character meals.

Honestly her hilt being built from staff makes a lot of sense, and the little prongs opening at the top when she activates it is fun as hell.

It's just ROS being such a resounding wet fart of a film made them stop caring about it, shifting their merch focus to Mandalorian.

There's no way masking will be a requirement come the 50th if covid continues to slow down and vaccines continue to go up. Hopefully, that doesn't lead to variants and people are careful.

it's real, real likely around here that people are going to be weirded out by mask-wearers sooner than that. You're looking at at least 30-40% of people that have been maskless for months and it's only been increasing. I guess my question is when masks are banned except for ill folks or if they will be.

In some scenarios they could be banned as a 'security' thing since they'd hide your identity. That said, I don't think Disney would ban them like that.

I suspected this was coming. Shopdisney has had masks half off for a week now. They're trying to clear stock because they know it's coming.

I've thought about what I'll do when I'm there later this year if masks aren't required. I'll probably still use an N95 on the plane. Walking around the park? Probably not. Maybe while in a queue if it's a packed line.

To the very best of my knowledge, pre-covid medical masks were not allowed unless medically necessary due to what Jose said.

At this point I have no idea what I'm doing. In all reality, it isn't all that different from my life here in GA. I am frequently the only masked person, employees included, in places like Tractor Supply and other feed stores and... yeah if I keep going through that list, ugh. A lot of places. I don't really want to go to Disney masked with my breathing issues, but I'd really rather not die, either. I'm vaccinated, but it's not 100%. I dunno. :smith: We posted 42,000 new cases yesterday and almost 900 deaths. We really can't wait to do this poo poo until it goes down to like, 40-50 deaths a day or somethin'?

We could possibly be that by October. Despite a lot of the gloom and doom about the variants a month or so ago, they didn't really turn into anything that had an enormous effect. Yes, there's always a chance some variant breaks free and we start from square one, but I think it's just as possible, probably more so, that we continue on the downward trajectory even with vaccine hesitancy.

Disney is doing a wait and see on the 3 feet thing, but strong rumor is they'll do this also on the 16th, but are watching Universal Closely on it. May 15th was when Citywalk reopened last year, (June 6th for the parks) so it's nearing a year mark, interestingly.

Fuck the DH
I know it’s not a theme park, but Vegas has gone to 80% capacity and reduced distancing to 3 feet. In two casinos where 80+% of workers are vaccinated, they’ve been allowed to go to 100%.

But, masks are still kept enforced by the state, and the motto seems to be “because we’re masked and vaccinated, bigger crowds are possible.”

I do know Nevada and Florida have been working together lately to campaign to Congressional committees about the importance of getting travel up and going, and distancing requirements seem to be the most salient thorn in the side. Both theme park and casino tourism draws are doing anything they can to boost vaccinations: bonuses, freebies, or just outright demanding employees get regularly tested if not vaccinated.

The health of visitors themselves is not given a lot of time in these matters, of course, but if it did these two states would wither and die economically because that’s kind of what a truly appropriate response to the pandemic would do. Realistically we’re looking at losing a lot of Americans, particularly conservative voters, over the next few years unless other employers begin taking shots as seriously as tourism does.

This is what's making me nervous about our July trip. We're vaxxed but the kids won't be, and I'm really not sure how many people will even bother with masks anywhere by that point. I'm not worried about outside but when packed in indoor queues...

We'll just keep an eye on if cases stay low but I don't really know what threshold to really draw the line at. I know kids (usually...) don't get that sick even if they do catch it, but as a parent it's still not a great feeling of sending them off to get infected and then hope for the best. Kind of want to get them fake id's to pretend they're 12 to get a shot.
