Pfizer vaccine trip report (since we're doing that in here): First dose had no side effects. Second dose was Saturday afternoon; Sunday I was a little lethargic, but nothing out of the ordinary. Comparable to a couple hours less sleep than usual, or following up a particularly long day, something like that. Minor injection site soreness about on par with a bruise, which was much reduced by Monday and completely gone today. A+, would recommend.

I was also completely asymptomatic when I had covid, so apparently this is what I've been saving all my luck for. TBH I'd redistribute about 20% to gambling if I could.

I’m surprised how much lower those are than the military. I guess the DoD is more diverse so that may explain it. Especially a place like NYC where it saw first hand the magnitude of the pandemic, with lots of police dying.

Cops are chuddy across-the-board, while the military is very much closer to 50/50. That especially goes for younger military versus late careerists/retired VFW folks.

Cops are also less receptive to the scientific argument that COVID-induced protection is weaker than vaccine-induced protection and a lot of cops had COVID already.

People go on and on about "Beer Judge", etc but give Biden a pass when he has a more credible accusation against him.

I don't see anyone here going "Rapey Joe." every time he's mentioned.

Bad framing again.

quote:

One of Joe Biden’s top coronavirus advisers has warned that forcing drug companies to abandon intellectual property rights to Covid-19 vaccines risks backfiring if it leads to long legal disputes.

Dr Anthony Fauci, the chief medical adviser to the US president, told the Financial Times that he would oppose a plan to rip up international trade rules to improve vaccine supply in the developing world if it took too long to bear fruit.

The Biden administration is expected to set out its position on intellectual property rights this week during a World Trade Organization meeting.

Fauci told the FT on Monday that he was “agnostic” about how to boost vaccine supply to developing countries. But he added: “Going back and forth, consuming time and lawyers in a legal argument about waivers — that is not the endgame. People are dying around the world and we have to get vaccines into their arms in the fastest and most efficient way possible.

The patent discussion is not clean. There's simply not enough raw materials to make generics of these vaccines yet and the procedures are too complicated to make generics right now. If all patents were waived tomorrow, vaccine production will not increase. Arguably, it could decrease if new manufacturers gently caress up their first batches and waste ingredients. And those are vaccines that could get shot into arms.

It's a different story completely in 6-12 months when there is absolutely no moral reason to enforce patents when there are spare materials around and expertise is high enough to make generics. But as long as we're stuck in a raw material-constrained environment, people saying "hey, waiving patents doesn't fix anything right now and could hurt" have a point.

The patents should be waived. It's just not time yet, you can't whip up a batch of generic mRNA like it's amoxicillin.

Took them a few times over the summer, coasted straight through winter, started hitting deep potholes again the next spring. Nothing could keep me down for like, 6 months. I'm loving terrible about pills, give me shrooms once every few months in a chill space with good music and I'll work a few kinks out.

This is nothing more than a longer version of your original shitpost. You're asserting that Tara Reade had a better case than Christine Ford, but that's all you're doing. You were asked to elaborate. You said "Tara Reade had a better case than Christine Ford," but using more words and less substance.

To be clear, the request for elaboration was to back up your assertion, not to restate it using more words.
