The way that the leagues fall into one another makes sense and it gives European football back to some of the other nations. Will be interesting to watch.

That competition was announced more than a year ago right? It might actually be cool if it didn’t take the Europa league drop outs.

You’d have to get rid of the CL > EL dropouts too and no one would vote for that;

Like that makes a lot of sense from a tournament perspective.

This is genuinely fine. There's nothing wrong with international games for more teams from different echelons, even if no one outside those countries (or often even cities) will be watching. This is ok so long as they don't do what they do with national teams tournaments and inflate a single competition by letting everybody qualify. Like a 64-team Champions League group stage, now that would be almost as ridiculous as the Super League.

International leagues for poo poo teams is a great fuckin idea. As I suggested in the other thread they should just reserve half a season for domestic league, half for international league. Everyone fucks off to Europe in January based on their league position.

Yeah UEFA wants Wembley to match the 25000 fans Istanbul promised but the UK has a 10000 person limit (or around that).

Chiunque può essere Luther Blissett, semplicemente adottando il nome Luther Blissett

yeah - from what i've seen, the EFL would be prepared to move the playoff final but UEFA won't hold it in the UK unless they all get the same coronavirus exemptions as the players and don't need to quarantine in place for 10 days before going to a stadium event with thousands of people

there's a good chance it'll therefore end up in Portugal, which won't make them do that but is on the UK ok-to-travel list

This is fully a move by UEFA to move all of the knockout ties to neutral sites like Dubai, Qatar, etc.

Weren’t they taking about moving the semis to single game knockouts in a neutral venue? Honest question.

I think they said that last year's tournament style was good, but I don't know how serious they were about changing it. I doubt they'd want to reduce the number of big games, anyway.

Indeed they are.

I dislike the away goals rule, fully because Juve have been bounced out by away goals in the knockouts 2 out of the last 3 years, so I'm glad it's gone.
