You'll get basically nothing out of it other than a sort of ok game.

Though persona 5 doesn't have a lot of character growth so maybe you won't miss out on much?

Glestersure?

Strikers is a direct sequel to P5 and and they don't really give you a rundown of what happened in the last game, or a summary, or anything. It's just "hey guys, I haven't seen you since [massive spoilers!] how about we go on some new wacky adventures!" I haven't played P5 but I've skimmed the LP and read a few plot summaries so I have, like, the general shape of it. Also its a road-trip so 80% of the NPCs are new folks.

Edit: making Strikers a Switch game while not give it Persona 5 still feels like a remarkably unfair move.

I think when I played TOME I only made it east a few times and had one single win, with some kind of spellcaster that had some incredible murder spell? I always thought it was a pretty fun roguelike but too many runs just kind of fizzled out at the big undead tower and I never knew what went wrong.

I have 1 win but I was cheating to see what later game content was like. Right now I've made it to the east but I'm playing on exploration mode which is basically cheating anyway because for me the fun is in getting to gently caress around and murder poo poo and trying out different builds, not getting far and then losing all of my lives to a vault.

What I want to do is try to finally learn how to make add-ons for it because I've been wanting to make a new class for years and years now. I usually get started and then somehow screw up despite all the guides that spell out exactly what to do and once I hit that roadblock I usually take a breather from ToME for a while.

I had been following this game for a while but h/t to Stux for pointing out that Unbeatable [white label] actually came out today and they finished their Kickstarter.

I love everything about this game's visual and musical style. I thought that the demo thing they were releasing in conjunction with their kickstarter was just going to be like one track but it's surprisingly robust, with a dozen tracks with all difficulty options... I guess because the project is going to end up much bigger? I'm worried about Kickstarter scope creep loving things up (especially with that online multiplayer stretch goal) but what's here is already a lot of fun

I really like the atmosphere and emotional core of Sekiro, but I'm absolutely garbage at it. I'm only able at Platinum-style of character action games.

I was able to play Bloodeborne because parrying bosses with gunshots made sense to me compared to the mechanics of its peers, but even then I had to to rely on having roommates to pass the controller around with on certain areas and bosses (which made it very fun tbf).

I have a lot of respect for people who can put up with those games on their own. People who can play action games without constantly canceling animations into each other are something else lol. That's a level of patience I can respect.

Went back to Spider Man PS4 to keep scratching my Superhero itch. I know this is hardly a revolutionary take, but hot dang, that is a good-rear end video game. Huge world, tons to do, almost all of it fun. My only complaints are the Mary Jane sections. Not the forced stealth sections in general, just specifically hers, for story reasons more than gameplay.

Namely, the fact that most of them have her, a normal human with no combat training or bullet resistance powers, willingly walking unarmed into dangerous situations full of Men With Guns, who will kill her on sight, and then getting mad at her Bullet Resistant Superhero Boyfriend for suggesting that like, maybe she shouldn't do that? It's so stupid, and she is so clearly being objectively unreasonable that it makes me hate those sections.

And the thing is, it doesn't have to be bad! The Miles sections are totally fine in this regard, because they usually aren't Miles throwing himself into danger for no reason, but instead Miles being thrust into life or death situations against his will and behaving kind of heroically. Sure, you could say he's not being particularly smart, but he's usually being dumb in the service of, like, trying to save lives, not getting :airquote:The Scoop:airquote: or trying to get information a hypothetical Superhero Boyfriend could get faster and with much less risk to his person.

Hell, even one of the Mary Jane segments does this right! The part at Grand Central Station was great, because, again, it was a character being caught in an unexpected life or death situation and acting admirably. So that just makes it doubly confusing that they frame her other, more at-will incursions into Armed Criminal Mazes as things she is totally reasonable to want to do, and not suicidally stupid jaunts into Crazytown.

End rant. But yeah, loving revisiting this game, and seeing Spidey's New York really highlights how loving anemic Infamous's """Seattle""" was. Though apparently it's still only 1/2 scale? Come on, you cowards! Give us a full size NYC already! :argh:

Who wants some waffles?

In Persona 5 I got the big reveal about the bad guy and it seems weird. I figured it out like 50 hours ago because I noticed the clue at the start(ish) of the game and was waiting this whole time for it to come up. If you didn't notice it at the time or forgot literally a single insignificant sounding line of dialogue surely when the goodies are like aha pancakes you'd be like wtf are they talking about.

Edit: Ok now they are explaining it properly.

Jan 24, 2021

Huh? What?

13Sent update (at nearly 3am my time, jesus):

-THE GRANNY IS AN AI NOW???? HELLO?????
-That one girl with glasses maybe or maybe not being a robot isn't really that surprising because I had 'someone is secretly an AI' in my expectations pretty early on, considering how many other anime tropes they've got spinning on plates already, but I can't wait to see what the hell is up with that... in like 10 hours
-On that note, it's very weird that I feel like there's like 4-5 characters that I still don't have access to, which has me guessing whether they're actually going to be playable or not- girl with the glasses, guy with a pomp, maaaaaybe that friend of Juro who has been setting off alarm bells in my head basically since I saw him
-Also, multiple characters are blocked off until I see someone's 'Extinction' event, which is absolutely not terrifying at all in any capacity
-I've been trying to bounce back and forth between the combat stuff and the story, but the combat still stresses me out even though it's on the easiest difficulty. I've been going for the bonus objectives though, because I wanna see everything, because I love reading loving file entries in video games because I'm a freak who loves exposition
-On that note, can someone tell me if I have to grind out mystery points through doing combat multiple times, or will I basically get everything just from doing each combat section once? I don't mind being spoiled on this, I just want to be able to set my expectations accurately
-Oh, also, I really love the flowchart system in this game. The fact that you're actively getting bits of information in these vignettes and then carrying that over to other parts of the chart (but not necessarily in a meta sense like something like zero escape, they're usually just stuff the character would already think about that just you the player aren't privy to yet) is really fun from a narrative perspective. Seeing the variation in how the flowcharts expand is also a really cool way of showing a character's personality and role in the story- the sick girl's flowchart is a loving tangled mess, the guy with the hat from the past's is very rigid because that's what he's like, etc etc. It's neat!
-every time the sexy nurse in a catsuit comes on screen i lose it for a moment because it's so loving out of place, but like. at least it's an adult that's breasting boobily everywhere she goes. love how low the bar is with anime

You never have to grind out mystery points, in most cases by the end of the game you'll be overflowing in mystery points that the game will convert to chips

I like that part because the real twist isn't the identity of the traitor--that's fairly obvious--but that the Phantom Thieves also already knew and were setting him up. It's the story at its most heist movie, especially because it takes place around a big fancy casino heist.
