The only actually good CBC drama in the past 30 years was The Rez change my mind

Edit: Assuming that The Odyssey where that kid fell out of a tree and went into a coma and went on adventures inside his coma was made more than 30 years ago

I get random nostalgic flashbacks of The Odyssey (1992-1994, so not quite 30 years yet), was a pretty heavy show for my young self. I recall that the kid woke up from his coma at one point but he needed to somehow return back into the coma world.

The Odyssey slapped but I mostly remember the intro when he bashes his head on a rock because that part scared the hell out of younger me

Oh gently caress me other people who watched that and then spent two decades wondering if it was a fever dream.

Now that ive also confirmed the existence of the weird star wars missions d&d lite books, all i have left of my childhood "was that even real"s is a point and click game with stained glass game over portraits and a weird massive book i had that folded out into several different space board games.

Lol, I was a semi-regular watcher too. I concluded way younger than was appropriate that under the right circumstances a cool coma adventure can be better than real life, but past a certain point it's better to stay in the dream than reintegrate into a changed society.

I remember liking the French channels because they showed bewbz.

One of my coming of age moments was discovering a weird raunchy French comedy about two dudes dressed up like fur traders. Didn’t follow the plot, but the busty redhead caught my preteen attention REAL quick.

Does anyone recall a show on TV Ontario - it had a boot, a woman's shoe, an elderly grandma puppet, and this monster-like puppet called "thing" (which used to give me horrible nightmares). It found a video on youtube long ago but lost the link. I want to see that monster puppet again. I think it was filmed in the 1970's and was on TV before Today's Special and Fables of the green forest. (Had the same kind of creepy vibe to it as "Read all about it).

Turns out a lot of those types of stories are just like "we called them and we had money".

Gah me too!

Especially since I described the show to my partner multiple times and they had no idea what it was but then when I called it "The Odyssey" they suddenly knew? What other early to mid 90s children's drama centred on a kid in a coma?!

According to Wikipedia, Vincent Price did it because he wanted to make something for children, and shot all his scenes in one summer. Still a bit surprising, but at least its better than just straight "I did it for a large pile of cash".

lmao defund the CBC forever and always

quote:

According to the provincial data, 478 students and 96 staff members contracted the illness and 17 schools had moved to remote learning in the two weeks prior to May 5.

However, a case in a school does not mean it was acquired or transmitted at school.

What would our failure of a provincial government do without Gunga Din here carrying all the water
