Internet connections and video decoding were not what they are today. I imagine the producers thought it was a win/win/win. Not tiger specific, but when I was a kid in rural TX, a guy down the street had lions. One of them got out and peoples' dogs started going missing. After a couple days, the cops cordoned off the whole neighborhood. That was a weird walk home from the bus stop.
