I was really excited for Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and A Ghost Story and was ultimately disappointed with both, finding them a bit more style than substance. Still, the director has an obvious amount of talent and I remain optimistic about this.

New Stephen King show - an Apple Exclusive.

I love SK but god most of his movies are poo poo because I feel nobody ever appropriates the right resources (they always look like late 90s made for TV poo poo no matter the budget).

This looks good though.

Lisey's Story is a weird book, but I hope for once that King weirdness doesn't get sanded off for the adaptation. That happens nearly every time.

That's childhood nostalgia, right there.

Like, Storm of the Century? '1990s direct-to-TV Stephen King movie' is its own genre.

I had a high tolerance for that stuff as a teenager, but I finally remember seeing The Langoliers and just going "oh jesus christ come on."

Weird I actually have trouble hearing but heard the voices just fine in that trailer. Everyone was super distinct and sounded very singular so maybe that just had me paying attention more

Not sure if I'm getting old or what, but I can't believe I'm at the point where I have CC/subtitles preferences and opinions. "Ooh, they've got them entirely in the black bars so it doesn't block the picture, very nice." "Are these letters pixelated, wtf, did they do the captioning in Windows Movie Maker?"

I won't go to bat for it, I read most of King's stuff and this is definitely a really meh one. There's so many more interesting titles that could do with an adaptation.

I hope something comes of that Netfix series of the Talisman.

It’s a bummer that they’re saying this is the last Purge movie, I think The First Purge did a really good job of moving the series in a new direction and they could go on for years letting newish directors go ham and make some socially conscious schlock that doesn’t feel the need to insert white people into everything

Sparks (AKA Ron and Russell Mael) have been producing top quality glam rock/pop for 50 years now. They were an influence on everyone from Queen to the Pet Shop Boys and are one of the few 70s acts to evolve and remain relevant rather than become a nostalgia act. They're probably best known for this track from 1974:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAzESJ62irI

And here's a track from their most recent album, released last summer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Erg7Ku1ye7s

You should be super stoked to see a documentary about them, because they're unique.
