Great. Now, they’ll never consider a de-orbit burn capability for future lifts. I mean, that’s great good news for the rest of us!

Didn't see this here yet, but there is a new Air Safety Institute vid. https://youtu.be/ydogesjgmzU Thanks for whomever it was that first linked these months ago, as a non-pilot I enjoy this stuff. Also, an interesting showcase for MSFS2020

Learning from mistakes (yours and other pilots) is big part of flying. If you are thinking of starting on your PPL soon I high reccomend signing up for the 6 month free student membership at AOPA (the org that makes these videos). You'll get a sub to Flight Training magazine among other benefits. There are case studies in the magazines too. The most recent issue of their main magazine had an article about a pilot flying a small plane above an inversion layer (where colder conditions are below you). They knew about it but when ATC asked them to descend into it they only requested to not descend and didn't say anything else when ATC said No. Immediately they were in icing conditions and losing speed and altitude. They declared an emergency and diverted to JFK. Then they had an alarm that their gear didn't extend so they tried to get the tower to look but visibility was poor. In the go-around ATC instructed them to climb but luckily they said they couldn't do that and just Flew The Plane (trying to climb would probably have caused them to stall due to the icing). On the landing attempt luckily the gear held and they landed safely.

Just flew on a max-8. I have to say it was one of the smoothest flights I’ve had. I’d say it’s as smooth as a A380. None of the engine vibrations associated with the usual narrow body flights.

Yeah, I was on a MAX before the Incidents, and apart from that one specific problem, it's a pretty drat good plane in terms of passenger experience.

I worked for a Taquan sister company for 6 years. When everyone I knew saw that a Taquan plane had crashed, we were not surprised. We were a little more surprised at the second crash so soon after. For perspective, I drove a Unimog that the Taquan A&Ps maintained over the winters. I’m not saying they have to be great vehicle mechanics but I would have expected them to know the difference between a 12V and 24V system; every single electrical item they modified lit on fire. Every spring, too, because they annually ‘fixed’ the same problems they caused every year.

I went to a good first aid course once (really low level stuff) and the instructor told us that anyone who barely survives an accident won't feel lucky, so don't tell them they're lucky. Instead tell them why the gently caress did you steal my luck you stupid motherfucker and that has always stuck with me.

Is doing nearly a 180 into a parallel runway normal? Also Key Lime just thought he had an engine failure, wow.
