As the person involved in what I have now found out some consider to be the biggest example of what's wrong with the forum, I should have a dog in the fight, but I really don't. However, I'm not entirely sure what the proposal is. Some have said that they want a separate lite forum. Some have said that they want this forum moved elsewhere and the new forum made into the real forum, if I understand correctly. The latter seems extreme enough that it would probably be better to see if that is the majority opinion before moving forward. The prior sounds fun and fine.

I like old wrestling. It doesn't make me mad. I don't expect what I post to make anyone else mad. It's just an angle to look at something that I'm watching anyway. And, while it's a post-hoc justification that didn't exist when I originally started, I think that what has been posted may serve as an interesting tool to see what Peacock deems worthy of deletion and what it is OK with.

But, y'know, different strokes for different folks. I didn't expect everyone to be interested in it or like it. I just figured that they would avoid reading threads that they hate just to be mad or whatever they feel about them.

i started making that post before i saw yours, I was more taking about the people who are asking about how much malice towards the wwe is appropriate, which is Not Good since the enclosed pool area will be a place of love and unity

Thanks for the clarification. I haven't watched them for the last couple weeks, but I actually sometimes like some things that WWE does, and I wouldn't mind having a place where I could occasionally say that without it being a big deal.

Fwiw, just to clarify my post from earlier, I do find your thread kind of interesting and I do occasionally learn stuff from it. It's like how reading that Everyday Sexism blog can be a good way of taking a good look at yourself now and then, making you reflect on what is and isn't cool to say because it's not always obvious, even if I don't get a lot of your censoring stuff. Whether a wrestling comedy forum is a good place to do that depends on the person I guess, and those that think not can laugh at it but eh, nice to have room for both types of posts somewhere on the forums anyway.

I don't have much of a dog in this since I do not post about wrasslin, but from my outside perspective, a lite subforum seems harmless at worst. Take that for what it is worth, which is probably nothing.

The reaction to that “offensive stuff in wrestling” thread is bizarre to me. Putting it in a thread that people can choose to read or not read is fine and doesn’t affect other threads. If there are threads I don’t like I just don’t read them.

I like the GDTs a lot, think the discussion threads can get a bit weird but are mostly fine. Cav can post whatever and people don’t need to worry about punctuation. Post how you want. And like the whole bit where someone compared the acclaimed to trump was funny because they got dunked on and it led to an all time emf post.

All that said, just post applies to the forums too. Another forum is fine, maybe it would be better in ways I don’t really see articulated so far.

Thanks. I'm working on finding a better balance with censoring stuff or at least a better technique. At first I overestimated how censorious the forum as a whole was, and overdid it initially, for sure.

I wasn't really aware that it was a wrestling comedy forum as I bought my account to see threads on the alt right acting goofy when they were blocked to non-subs, discovered there was a wrestling forum after the fact, and haven't really interacted with the rest of the site yet. Some of what I post is funny to me in the "wow, that was stupid as gently caress. wtf." sense, but if the larger point of the forum is comedy, I can see where it could come across as a somewhat atypical place to post a fair amount of it.

---

And, on the broader topic, like Bluedeanie said, a sub or alt forum for lite stuff seems harmless.

people are just sick of being beaten over the head with how the wrestling industry is full of shitheads i think

say someone newish comes in and says "man rkbro is a good pairing, they amuse me." they will be told within minutes that riddle is a rapist and orton said the n word on stream once. this may or may not snowball into a discussion about how the whole fed is objectively trash and houses rapists and pedophiles, and anyone who signs a contract is the dumbest gently caress in the universe and deserves to sit in catering unused. also adam cole is short oh no no no

in the questions thread there was a discussion about the wwf/world wildlife fund case. someone made the joke about vince fighting an org that saves animals, so of course someone else had to immediately disprove that by posting a link about how the wwf is awful and actually tortures animals to death or something i don't know i didn't read it

note that none of this is against the rules (and shouldn't be), so "just report the posts you have a problem with" doesn't really do anything. because, technically, those people are right and those things are true. so after the 10th time it falls into the "you're not wrong walter you're just an rear end in a top hat" territory

it happens in almost every thread and is exhausting. gently caress, i'm guilty of it myself in the past but have noticed it more and more over the past months. wanting a place where that doesn't happen isn't absurd imo

I agree that it gets exhausting. On the other hand, as someone who started following wrestling as an adult in the last couple years the only reason I knew Ultimate Warrior is a raging homophobe or that Savage beat his wife is because someone told me, and that completely changes how I react to that. I may still cherish the memories but I don’t regret being told what they did. Dunno where the balance is, agree it might be wrong here atm, but also don’t think it’s to avoid bringing it up entirely.

This could be the most one-sided fight since 1973 when Ali faced an eighty-foot tall mechanical Joe Frazier. My memory isn't what it used to be, but I think the entire Earth was destroyed.

I agree with all this, but I also think that splitting off a new forum is just going to lead to two tiny dead subforums rather than one moderately sized, moderately dead one.

I want to have fun posting with friends about the dumbest, funnest poo poo in the world: wrestling. That's not currently happening for me here. The last thing I would want to do is force people to post the way I want them to, so I think having a spin off, relaxed forum is a more than fair suggestion.
