Really that’s why I GoPro most of my flights. It’s not like I’m doing anything worth sharing, but if someone wants to gently caress up in front of me…

I had one of those moments at SNA a while back. We were waiting to take off, and a C-172 completely botched a landing, to the point where the airplane hits the runway, bounces, lands in the dirt next to the runway (towards the airplanes waiting to depart), then swerves back onto the runway and finally stops.

The airplane taxied off the runway, and about the only repercussions were the tower controller sending the next airplane around, and us being very annoyed we didn't get it on camera.

Most birds don’t have dicks.

There are exceptions, and ratites, the group to which kiwis belong, is a major one. Ostriches, emus, rheas, and cassowaries have dicks.

But kiwis are an exception to the exception and don’t have dicks.

"Solo flight" means your first flight as a student pilot without an instructor aboard. The commercially-operated twin turbopropcargo jet may have been operated by only one pilot, but it was probably not on a solo flight

Yes, they are talking about the Cessna who was turning final behind Key Lime. Someone said that the pilot of that Cessna was on their solo.

3 planes were "involved" in the incident. The third was a solo student who saw the other 2 collide in front of him.

It’s a B-17b, c or d. Those are the models that had the bathtub on the bottom. Don’t know what’s up with the markings.

Solo flight is any flight the PIC is the sole occupant of the aircraft.

But as others have said, there was a Cessna with a student solo involved as well.

Off the top of my head the Japanese cobbled together a working B-17 from some early models captured in the Philippines and some slightly later ones elsewhere, probably a bit of a Frankenstein.

Apparently the Japanese reconstructed a single D in the Philippines. Could be that one.

The Germans ended up with quite a few usable Allied heavy bombers. In addition to more usual roles (IE studying them and using them for training) the Germans really liked using them as heavy transport aircraft, as this was something they had almost none of. I've heard the story of wolf in sheep's clothing, and this was definitely a worry of Allied Air Commanders during World War 2. That said, I've never seen a concrete example.
