One thing I haven't really understood about Gaza is whats the sort of end game exactly? Like I understand the point of leveling all infrastructure, letting nothing in so stuff can be rebuilt, making like hellish for everyone there, etc, but isn't the point of doing that to try and get the people to leave so you can take the land? Yet, israel also isn't letting them leave, and working with egypt, isn't letting them leave that way either? Its easy to be glib and say "the point is to exterminate them" or whatever, but birthrates exceed deaths still, and ultimately the point is to have them gone so they can take it, but that has to necessitate either letting them leave and go be refugees in egypt or elsewhere, or straight up exceeding births with deaths. Yet they do neither? Do they actually not want the land that much and a boogyman is more useful? Is it just no one HAS a real plan so they're just punting with periodic bombs? I don't understand trying to force them out but not letting them out.

the displacement is in the west bank. keeping gaza around is because the conflict is a useful pawn both for domestic politics, regional power, and necessary for the continued ascendancy of fascism. its a forever genocide akin to our forever wars (although unlike the latter is one that could very easily come to completion if a trump-like ideology-golem emerged)

The endgame is to be able to "mow the lawn" every couple of years that just happen to coincide with Israeli elections in which Bibi isn't polling well or otherwise has political problems. Bibi doesn't give a flying gently caress what happens once he dies. This opens the door to a bunch of different scenario's depending on who follows Bibi: 1. Israeli's come to their senses and realize they have been the baddies all along and elect someone who considers Palestinians people. The boot is lifted off the neck and some kind of solution can be reached. This is what everyone should hope for but also not the world we're living in. 2. The next Israeli leader follows in Bibi's footsteps and continues to use Gaza as a way to score cheap political points at home and shore up their approval polls whenever necessary. Optionally they can use this approval to commit all the crimes and corruption they want. Both the Israeli electorate and the international community (read: the USA) continue to tolerate this. This means this can keeps getting kicked down the road, and the current situation, in effect, is the endgame. 3. The next Israeli leader wants to colonize Gaza again and realizes the only way to do it is to get rid of the Palestinians once and for all and achieve some kind of final solution. Also realizes that it is easier to bribe Egypt and possibly other surrounding countries to let the Palestinians in. Basically, provide a way out while upping the terror more and building settlements again. Eventually most Palestinians will be forced off, those that refuse get killed and the land becomes part of Israel. Does need help from countries in the region and likely also have this be tolerated by Europe as this is likely to result in another massive refugee wave to Europe, which is kind of A Thing in European politics at the moment. 4. The next Israeli leader wants to colonize Gaza again and realizes that it's going to be way too hard to get countries in the region and Europe to cooperate with ~2 million people being made refugees and basically their problem to deal with. So clearly this call for a different kind of final solution, the type where ~2 million people need to get murdered at an industrial scale. Maybe Israeli, US and European societies will have slid rightward far enough to cheer this on, tolerate it or at least ignore it and pretend it isn't happening by the time someone goes for it. My money is on 2, but like, the ideological groundwork has totally been laid for 3 and 4, and there's a playbook from the West Bank they can copy for 3.
