So how is this really a victory? It’s an awesome thing that the fighting has stopped but a ceasefire could end in a snap and the palestinian people paid dearly. I suppose you could say the blatant mask off stuff is a victory long term, though as someone in this thread pointed out, the US can’t stop supporting Israel at this point or they risk nuclear war. Otoh those very same nukes should prevent another six day war scenario.

In 11 days Hamas & its allies launched more rockets than they were able to attack Israel with in 7 weeks in 2014, and a ceasefire came without any IDF ground invasion. Riots and strikes in Israel & the West Bank overstretched Israeli security and made the economy scream. Across all fronts the power of the resistance strong armed Israel and forced it to yell uncle over the objections of its own constituencies. That sure as gently caress sounds like a victory to me. Things could always change tomorrow, but if they do it will be because Israelis cannot tolerate this humiliation.

yeah given the power imbalance the Palestinians won an important moral and political victory, they made the Israeli state and society pay a price they weren’t able to keep paying, the question is, can this be translated to things like stopping the ethnic cleansing of sheikh jarrah or a lifting of significant aspects of the siege? time will tell.
