Convictions dropped an album today. Haven't listened through it all quite yet, but I've enjoyed the singles leading up to it.

I've been waiting for this one after getting hooked on The War That Followed Me Home. A bit disappointing it's only seven tracks, but wow Last Cell is a loving banger.

I haven't really followed The Devil Wears Prada much since the mid-00s, but this new track hooked me enough that I've been going listening to their Zombie and Space EPs for the last few days, both of which are pretty drat fun. I tried their latest LP, The Act, but it didn't quite click.

The last strong full-record TDWP did was probably Dead Throne and that was a decade ago. Jeremy's clean vocals often get on my nerves (I don't mind the auto-tuning/doubling, it's just... they tend to bring down songs that would've otherwise been unfuckwithdable to merely decent-to-good), but most of that record got it right. 8:18 had moments but it often felt like the industrial/post-rock-ish songs kinda hosed with the album's flow a lot.

Zombie and Space are both great, tho'!

Even though I don't gently caress around with much TDWP, I've always really dug Daniel Williams' drumming. Dude's footwork is just really fuckin' clean. Bummer that he's no longer with the band for whatever reason, but I was glad to see that the guy who replaced him used to play for Once Nothing. I still occasionally jam First Came The Law

This split maxi from SeeYouSpaceCowboy… and If I Die First today is one of the best releases of 2021 so far. It was super effective at making me nostalgic for how this genre used to sound two decades ago.

So, I think it's out, but just uploaded poorly. On both YTM and Spotify, it looks like the two SYSC tracks + the collab got uploaded as SYSC's artist page and the two IIDF tracks got uploaded to their artist page.

Completely new to me, so I peeped a single track off YT and the top comment was "Kaonashi packs so much into such a short time, at times I felt like I was listening to the fall of Troy, at times I felt I was listening to dance Gavin dance but all the while its Kanonashi and it retains their own flavor, still all makes sense and works beautifully together"

I'm genuinely 100% onboard with BOO's transformation into Deathcore Disturbed.

On a vague tangent, Jason Richardson has started his next album (I loving love "I", can't believe its been 5 years since it was released) but progress has stalled cos Luke Holland had a Grand Mal seizure. Epilepsy suuuucks, thankfully he's recovering

Oh, gently caress! I'm not super into any of the bands he's drummed for, but I really love his YT drum vids. Glad to hear he's okay (as okay as you can be after having a seizure on top of broken glass).

I really rate him as a person now for not being afraid to share pics on Instagram etc of how bad the latest seizure hosed him up and raising awareness about epilepsy, especially as I feel like he probably has a rep for being a bit of a prettyboy/poser.

I'm glad he is gonna avoid his triggers from now on (ie booze and forgetting to take his meds) as he's a great drummer IMO, and although he's poss a bit 'youtubey', I'm keen for anyone that inspires people to pick up instruments, especially drums

It really loving does!

It's insane that, aside from Dead Throne, anything TDWP has put out that's been worth any discussion post-With Roots Above... have been EP's: The Zombie duology and Space.

8:18 felt like a messy "branching" for the most part, Transit Blues felt like it was pieced together by a bunch of wannabes playing at being TDWP and The Act felt like a much better attempt at branching away but it still felt short from anything they had done in almost a decade.

Kind of a similar vibe as to how Saosin never really topped Translating the Name, even if the record they recorded with Anthony Green back in the band is really good.

FWIW in the past, it's less from his chuddy political beliefs (Steve Souza from Exodus has been a chud for a long time and both he and notoriously outspoken Gary Holt seem to at least keep civil with each other, as an example) conspiracy theory BS and more due to the fact that he's a giant shithead with a history of physically and violently assaulting people. Dude has been loving rear end in a top hat even from way back in the Vext (the band) days back in the NY Hardcore scene.

Not a super DL fan, but hey if he's getting more work, good for him.

Yeah DL's cool I'm glad he's working and if he's enjoying himself that rules

I think I saw Vext as an opener at a show at The Downtown or Crazy Donkey once and they were entirely forgettable and I only remembered who this rear end in a top hat was recently when he started showing up in posts with Fitness Industry Influencers (who as it turns out also are chuds)
