Keith is a pretty horrible promo but a tremenous wrestler and would be great anywhere, even WWE if they let him be. It is super weird that WWE specifically went out to target and shut down all the wrestlers who were really pushing the genre forward like Riochet, Lee, Dijakovik, etc who were all having matches unlike anything i'd ever seen a few years ago in PWG, Japan, etc. It seems like a purposeful attempt to stifle any new styles so that only the WWE house style can be in the consciousness of the fans.

That's possible, but I'm applying Hanlon's Razor and not ascribing to malice something that could be explained by incompetence. I think they're agnostic as to whether Lee et al do well in WWE as long as they aren't doing well somewhere else.

I think it's less a concerted effort to stifle something and more - These guys were incredible wrestlers who were pushing the genre forward. - This gave them name recognition and money drawing ability. - WWE signed them so that they couldn't draw money for anybody except them. - The things they did to get themselves over have no place in WWE, because they're fun and cool and exciting, which has no place in WWE. - They just bury them for not fitting in.
