Can anyone give some tips for setting up oil networks? I was really enjoying the game and my enjoyment pretty much ran directly into a brick wall of frustration as soon as I unlocked oil infrastructure.

Clear out the center strip and you have a perfect space for rails later. Make sure you have multiple paths around your island so your trains can try to route around each other. Also make sure industries buffed by the power plant have an extra fire station or two around them to reduce the chances of fires and explosions.

Just started a new save, so I'll keep going. The new tree painter is great, no more waiting for trees to fill in when you want to get lumber. Also the slowest speed is really good as well. Not a pause, but still very slow and you feel like you can handle that pace if that's what you need. I'll keep updating throughout the day as I run into more new stuff.

AHAHAHAHA, holy poo poo, just got my first unlocked recipe: The Lobster Cheminee! Takes: Enbessan lobster, tobacco, and Citrus from the New World. Effect: Reduces beer and chocolate consumption by 5%...and Rum by a whopping 20% Edit: the recipe page: I obviously don't have citrus unlocked yet on this game. Also Hotels are basically "Why yes, I would like ALL the money please." Alkydere fucked around with this message at 20:33 on May 25, 2021 |

I hope some hidden recipies actually influence investor/scholar-goods as well, and not "just" worker/artisan/engineer. Especially with docklands, getting a 5% reduction in consumption of canned food just won't exite me. (Like there's not an actor in every town hall anyway). E: Or is that the different tourist buildings, restaurant for worker/artisan districts, cafes for artisan/enigneer and bars for enigneer/investor? The Restaurant, Cafe and Bar are different Tourist buildings that you unlock at various tiers of Tourist population. Each recipe for them takes 3 food goods and then reduces the amount your locals eat of certain food end-items by X percent and gives a small happiness buff. The Scholars seem unaffected, but Investors most certainly get bonuses for their foods items: mainly champagne and chocolate reductions.

Makes sense, Anno does seem intent on making sure the DLC doesn't mix. Sucks but I prefer it over having parts of the dlc either blocked or useless due to not having the right add on

Oh they intentionally did some mixing. Some of the recipes actively require resources from from Enbessa/the Arctic and they're not available unless you have the DLC. It's just that Scholars don't seem to hang out at bars. Which both makes sense (Enbessa culture doesn't really involve alcohol consumption) and is news to me (based on my own college experiences)

Man getting space for all these bus stops is gonna take some rearranging. Especially factoring in that you want restaurants in the middle of population centers so their benefits spread.

Base game is good on it's own & would be a good way to figure out if you like the game, but complete edition comes with the y1/y2/y3 dlcs and it's a lot at this point. Both appear to be on sale right now? (Base 50% off, Complete 35% off?) Not sure what the upgrade options look like if you were to get base then want all the DLC.

It's good on it's own, but I recommend the season pass if you can swing it. There's so much good content. This is assuming you've played some Anno games before and have an idea of what you're getting into.

Then again, my previous statement is solely based on conversations I had with cool devs at Paradox Con a few years ago, a different company with different ways of doing things. And Paradox day one bugs are typically on a different scale than what I have seen with the Anno series.

So I love how without Tourist Season you'll build one, MAYBE 2 saltpeter mines on the coast for your niter to make advanced weaponry for the later ships...and maybe to trade with the Docklands. Now that you have Tourists demanding ice-cold lemonade though it takes 4 unpowered saltpeter mines to satisfy one powered chemical plant and Niter is now actually valuable! Also if anyone is curious why the lemonade takes niter: it's to cool it! Water + Saltpeter/Niter = an endothermic reaction that absorbs heat. It's not going into the lemonade at all (which is good because it's toxic) but is being used to make cold baths to chill the stuff where its served. But yes, very much for low-use ingredients getting new uses. Also I'm so very amused that of the 4 recipes the arctic DLC adds, there's one recipe that uses whale oil (the Tourist lady straight up calls it "lantern oil"), and another for the Iron Tower that uses natural gas as ingredients. Also the Iron Tower is a shockingly cheap monument.

How do I use a consumable item in my town hall? I’ve left clicked on it, right clicked on it, tried to drag it back to the harbor etc. but it won’t get out my danged town hall! Also why am I all the sudden losing piles of money about the time I get engineers? I’m doing alright by selling soap and fir coats, but I wish that red number didn’t always say -5000

That tier has a pretty big leap in maintenance costs, steam engine factories especially Also make sure you have enough rum flowing to you old world/trelawny islands, that'll tank your income quickly.

Engineer is when you have to go wide for a while, their stuff pays off but the initial investments are harsh. Anyway Tourist season is here , so ofc I instead spend all my time making a self sufficient Island:

I've been hooked on this all weekend and thought I was by far the ruler of the world until I bought out one of Beryl O'Mara's new world islands and she declared war on me, wrecked all my complex trade routes, stole a bunch of my undefended islands, and I don't see any way of defeating her despite my massive economy and don't feel like setting up all those trade routes again etc. so I guess I'll start a new game without her, lol. Who's the least warlike level 2 AI? I'm pretty new to this and think I tend to waaaaay overproduce everything (except coastal defenses!) to make mountains of soap and fur coats and guns to sell to the AI. Is it better to stay pretty lean and only make exactly what you need? I notice the AI islands have waaaaay less stuff on them than mine but they still have investors etc-do they get free resources and stuff, or do I just not actually need 14 soap makers (and the army of workers that requires)to sell soap to Eli. Is there an actually good wiki/strategy guide? The fandom one is sort of OK but it's no paradox wiki. What's the deal with influence and how do I earn more of it? Finding out harbor defenses cost influence in the middle of a war when I had finally convoyed some guns to far flung islands was quite a shock. What DLC do I turn off to turn off Trelawney? Will I lose much else? I have Sunken Treasures, Docklands, and Bright Harvest. Expeditions don't interest me much in general and are kind of distracting-Are any of the other DLCs more focused on the old world/new world?
