The bird head in the hole looks like a lens with a reflection. I thought it was a hidden camera for a second.

I dunno, this birding thing doesn't seem all that hard, I mean, I can do it with an X100V! Granted, the owl allowed me to get literal inches from it, but still!

First birb photo I have taken that I think is "pretty good":

Wagtail and sparrow fighting about a hole under the gutter.

e: here is the what lead to the brief scuffle, wagtail is arriving to the spot with some stuff on its beak but the sparrow is already camping there

Usually not recommended, but cool shot!

I can vouch that this bird was a making GBS threads bird.

I love the contrast and colors on this one! Did you have to enhance the contrast in post?

My local birding spot has loads of Red-winged Blackbirds. I love these birds.

I almost never shoot red wings anymore. Some video, but I just watch them and listen. Some of my favorite birds just to watch.

Thanks! I definitely tweaked it some, but it started from a decent image. I moved positions until I could get the bird more or less in the darker part of the background.

Here's the photo with only +.2 EV and lens correction.

I'm feeling kind of clumsy with my edits right now so I'll probably go back to this again if it ends up as something I want to print or throw in a calendar. I have an old Loopdeck that stopped working when I upgraded my Lightroom to the latest version, and I haven't been able to get it working again. The left click on my mouse is also wearing out. Not that there are things I can't do now, but it's just less enjoyable to fiddle with sliders.

I think you are thinking of a house finch, as that is most certainly a house sparrow with the brown head.

We have 2 main sparrows in "Eurasia", House Sparrow (most common, exported all around the world enjoy that shrill nest ownership call all day in spring) male has a grey patch above the bill, and we also have the rarer Tree Sparrow, male has an all brown head.

Also we have Blue Tits

I'm not super familiar with the desert birds but I think this is a curve-billed thrasher. Sibley shows it as a little out of range in Utah but I'd lean towards that rather than Bendire's.

I got out yesterday and checked on one of the owl families in my local park. I didn't see them where the nest was but as we were turning around to leave I heard the baby screeching from a slightly different direction. I went in search and found the parent before I located the kid. The lighting was really nice but I couldn't find a perfectly unobstructed view. This mom is usually really chill but I could tell me just kind of popping up near her roost tree she wasn't thrilled I was there (didn't flush, but starting to do the owl head bobbing thing), so I backed away back, and managed to finally see the fluff ball.
