Sounds perfectly logical to me. An ultra-powerful being finds earth and falls in love with dogs and wants to stop humans loving up their lives.

I'm not surprised he's pissed, considering that they're doing this poo poo while most of those policies seem to still be in place (removing gay people from Russia/China releases, etc).

Hodgepodge posted:it was created to deal with that to create solidarity I'm not sure what you're trying to say here, but intersectionality theory refers to the theory that systems of discrimination overlap, so people can exist at intersections of oppression - i.e., a person who is black, poor, and gay is liable to face unique challenges not faced by someone who only checks one or two of those boxes... So "overlapping identities combining to gently caress you over" is just regular intersectionality.

So "overlapping identities combining to gently caress you over" is just regular intersectionality. sort of, intersectionality is meant to be a methodological recognition of the distinct subject positions created by these overlaps so as to avoid (as was the pertinent example) telling black women to shut up and wait for (black/woman's) liberation depending on the specific priorities of feminists, black civil rights, etc. the joke was meant to be that capitalism just does that part all on its own

Oh man I just watched this flick Meet the Hollowheads and it's exactly the kind of crazy poo poo you cannot convince anyone to let you make, it's loving crazy in the best way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhwErX-V--A Tonally it's a bleak dystopian parody of 50s sitcom americana with a rote "boss comes over for dinner, hijinks ensue" plot, with every cliche played straight but to the tenth power. Aesthetically it's full on, visceral, no-punches-pulled Cronenberg body horror spilt all over a proto-nickelodeon fever dream full of tubes and slime. It's listed several places as a "dark comedy" but it's really more accurately a light cartoonish family movie filled with grotesque violence and needless gross-out poo poo and several sexual assaults and it makes me want to loving puke. A+++ would buy on UHD

I'd say the part where the boys are picking engorged ticks off a dying dog and slingshotting them against the one's bedroom wall, splattering their giggling faces with ricochets of dog blood and tick guts, as a "kids just bein' kids!" honkey-tonk song plays was when I crack ping'd like "hey I think there's something wrong-wrong with this movie" and ho boy it never really lets up from there

And class, yes. Also more normal forms of luck are privilege in a sense; doubly so in America were any illness can gently caress you over, but also just like not happening to get sick with x rare illness that we can't treat yet, etc. One of my cousins is one of the kids of an executive in a successful regional electrical engineering company while my mom raised me on minimum wage without help from my dad. But she got Cerebral Palsy and I didn't- so you could say that not having it is a privilege I have that she doesn't, from sheer chance.
