in the last five years I’ve spent around equal times in an office (doing a job that I could have done almost entirely from a smartphone but keeping union certification necessitated being on site) and in an unheated no-AC semi-open repair facility and the office job by far was more emotionally and mentally draining, gently caress that poo poo I ain’t going back for less than double my current salary

No. A significant portion of WFH jobs exist entirely as bullshit jobs, things that either do not need to be done or need doing only under capitalism. It doesn't make you a bad person but having access to WFH is a major signifier of being well paid, college required work, and without the physical labor of lower paid workers. No matter how tired your eyes get doing JavaScript or how many dragon mpreg deviantart requests hurt your wrist, you exist in the narrow end of the class pyramid as a whole. What you do with your time, money, access, and unsapped physical labor matters far more to anyone sensible. Ok ok hold up Are you implying that drawing porn is a job where one is well paid?

Like I know we had that front page article a while ago about the artist who drew incredibly niche furry porn for like a thousand bucks a picture, but I know people who do this and for those prices you better be ready to draw all their ultra-detailed weird poo poo to the specifications they expect, color it, shade it, basically put in a solid week of work on one thing, then hope they don't rip you off or dispute the paypal transaction (and boy can they ever rip you off and dispute the paypal transaction). And that's if you get lucky and find a steady stream of people with a thousand bucks to blow on their fursonas every week or whatever.

I always liked the whole "in Europe kids can drink at a younger age so it teaches them to be responsible with alcohol!" angle a lot of people push here. 13+ liters per capita lmao e: I checked and it's liters of pure alcohol equivalent, not like, liters of beer or something. The US has a bit of an all or nothing use rate though. Lots of teetotalers bring the average down, and excessive use on the other end. Check out the state by state data, Utah drinks 5l per year and New Hampshire drinks 18l. There's a possibility that other countries have a healthier relationship with alcohol than the US.
